Does having a menu link pointing to my site hurt my SEO?

I have a blog with a link pointing to my forum (hosted on a separate domain). The link says "Relationship Forum" which is a keyword I am trying to rank for. As every page of the blog has this menu link, I am getting lots of links to my forum from the blog. Does this affect my ranking and if so is there anything I can do about it so Google only sees the link coming from the homepage?

I don't think that this would affect SEO in a bad way. Make sure your anchor text when back linking is varied with only around 20% being the main keyword.

But what I am saying is it is a menu item so the anchor text is always the same.
