Newbie Question on Backlinks

Just joined your forum and I am definitely a beginner. We have a new site www.aussiesuperfinder.com.au and I am trying to get backlinks and learn about the online world. Wondering if I do not get traffic from putting the web address in this post and in my signature how much or how little it will benefit. Is it worth going to other forums as well and doing the same thing?
