Are Backlinks From Same Server Valuable?

I'm thinking about buying some expired domains to use as backlinks to my main site. But I use shared hosting for all of my sites and I'm wondering if a backlink coming from a site on the same server is valuable.

Or would I have to have all the backlinks hosted on seperate servers to get the most link juice from them?

What do you think??

Open a new hosting account from a different company. So at least it's on a different IP Address and location. I would also consider registering the domains as private. You never know how new Google updates will effect your site. Better safe than sorry.

Having links from the same class C block of IPs used to be an issue--but from what I'm seeing it really isn't an issue anymore. But, if you want to be completely "safe", then you should have separate whois on the domains and host them on separate class C blocks.

You can benefit from these domains--you might want to use those domains to link out to other content that then links to you. For example, you could set up a blog on blogspot.com or wordpress.com and then link to that blog--and then that blog would link to your other site (which should then be on a different class C block).

I probably wouldn't link from 10 sites on the same IP address to one site. I would split it up a bit.

To be on safer side you should host different sites on different IPs. It is much favorable if each site will have its own dedicated IP. Not sure but WHOIS should not matter in this case.
