Anyone still doing micro niche targeted keyword sites?

I remember about 3 years ago that there were a lot of websites ranked at the top of Google simply by having a keyword inside the domain such as 4slicetoaster dot com

Anyone still doing something like that? What's the results?

The expert Seo's who also create websites can still rank micro niche sites like nothing.

The rest of you should most likely steer clear of the micro niche site for the forseeable future.

Have you looked at the changes Google has been making over the last 18 months?

There is a very telling pattern recurring.

Stay away from the whole idea and learn how to build good websites that attract loyal followers.

You can never go wrong with that.

I just got into building micro-niche sites recently. I'm still getting ranked and stuff. It's not dead like so many people claim. I tend to take the same approach I do with larger, niche sites (quality content, product review, and some articles).

While I'm still a fan of building larger, niche sites for the long-term, I think micro-niche sites are a good way to generate cash quicker and to test out niches as well. If I find multiple products I like in the same niche, that's when I'd probably decide to build another large site.

If you have both micro-niche sites and one or two larger, niche sites are part of your portfolio, you'll be covered in terms of having a means to generate fast cash and something for long-term. I also know lots of people that sell off micro-niche sites (flip them) to make a lump sum of cash -- seems like a natural extension but haven't done it, yet (wanna reach my money goals first).

    Good luck,
    Joey

If we act like it's impossible now, people won't try. Less competition. It's a strategy I tell you!

from what i see micro niche still good, because little competition you can rank faster.. i read some wso about keyword research and it teach about how to pick good keyword with less competition and he can rank page one even without any backlink.. so i think micro niches still working because it less competition

I personally built hundreds of micro niche sites and have done very well with them. My income from Google Adsense was more than my corporate job. The primary benefit of these types of small sites is that you are able to quickly target a keyword, and having an exact match domain often provided a benefit for ranking in Google. In addition, by targeting such specific terms, I was often able to write articles about exactly what the searcher was looking for; whereas my competitors, sometimes only generally discussed the topic.

I just do for fun now, not a serious income source!

Build with little effort, earn with little bucks and also if losing, it's a little bucks, too!

It's a good hobby to build a micro niche sites to earn some little extra bucks daily for coffee!

I just wanna tell you that most of the links in the signature are trash and/or a trap to make you pay!

I never really did authority sites or micro sites, I do super micro sites. I like to take my keywords to the lowest point like 2000 searches and rank those sites.

I would say it could never be dead, you can rank anything still if you know what your doing, the more targeted the keywords and the less searches the easier it is to rank if everything else falls into place.

Remember though I do One to three page sites so its a little harder to rank the website but pages rank fine for me.

I'm still doing micro sites, but I have different approach. Instead of low-comp/low-search keywords I go with the difficult ones that are money makers with loads of "exact monthly searches".

      Here's what I do:

      • I usually pick a keyword that I can write something about it, in that way I don't have to spend a dime on outsourcing content.
      • Keywords that receive approx 10k - 40k searches per month
      • Keyword that you can monetize
      • Make killer that gets social shares/links
      • For ranking in Google, I use 80% of e-mail outreaching
      • I also interact with people who land on my sites (help them through e-mailing, answer their comments etc)
      • Hold contests etc.
And frankly I'm getting pretty good results so far. My sites are not bigger than 30 pages, but there's no ROOM for "filler" content. All the content is somewhat useful/helpful and comprehensive. I usually refurbish similar, but outdated content and add my own value in it. After that I start looking for folks who share/like such content, send them e-mail, interact with them, help them if needed etc..

Of course, it usually takes 3 to 8 months to rank those sites properly, but eventually it's worth it.. I guess

Sure. Although make sure you are laser-targeted to such sites. In that way you won't lose your motivation

You and I must think alike. I tend to go after the easier keywords with less competition. While everyone else is chasing 5,000+ search keywords, I've had plenty of lower competition keywords perform very well.

I'm not even afraid to put together a quick post / page targeting a keyword with just a few hundred searches a month. As long as you're going after keywords that are extremely buyer oriented you'll be fine. And it takes very little to rank them.

I build microniche sites based on 5-6 main low-SEO comp keywords across 12 pages of content, then apply 100 or more high PR, diverse backlinks to those core pages. Still works for good income, especially if they have 2-3 money sources (adsense or CPA, affiliate info or physical products).

I really don't understand the question though or the reasoning behind it.
You know we have changes in the net from a daily basis.
Youtube updates and my software stops so I have to wait for them to upgrade.
Facebook software stops, google changes, my advertising agent goes out of business.

One thing always seems to stay consistent though, Pick a keyword with about 2,000 to 10,000 searches and this is not my set rule but for the most part it is.
See where that keyword leads too, if not strong competition get a site up and rank it.
Good quality content, low number of affiliate links, don't put the page to sleep with a bunch of advertising and monetization and it works.

It's dead simple been doing it for over 20 years, applied myself to the changes each time and continue to make money.
