Site completely tanked? What?

Hey, so a good buddy of mine is working on a clients site

rs-r.com (aftermarket car parts)

Apparently, rs-r.com is not even ranked #1 when typed "rs-r usa" in Google. This site has been ranked 1 for the longest time.

My buddy doesn't know anything about SEO whatsoever, and is trying to figure out what on earth made his site "deindexed" or "gone". He basically designed the site, did "basic" SEO stuff. And for months the site was ranked 1 and it should be since "Rs-r usa" is the company "rs-r.com"

I'm trying to figure out what on earth happened too because he hasn't done anything to the site since he worked on it.

      He does no link building. He doesn't do SEO. His emphasis is on building sites. I mean he understands the basics, but doesn't do any type of in depth SEO.

            Your right, the home page is now indexed (site:), it wasn't indexed earlier when looking at the site: search.

            Maybe the site was down & Google servers are trying to catch up right now, reindexing the site?

            BTW, I'm searching from the US east coast.

              Yeah maybe its being reindexed. Its ranked at no.1 for "rs-r usa" and "rs-r" rite now. i'm searching from asia but even using a US proxy its still number 1. Maybe all the servers weren't updated so people were seeing different results. Now it should be fine.

          That means absolutely nothing. he ranks for the keyword and he shows up in a info: As pointed out sometimes you have to add or subtract the www.

          :rolleyes: Dude seriously.......If a site shows up in the search engine at all regardless of site: it IS indexed.

    Doing a site: search shows the site isn't indexed.

    site:rs-r.com

    Searching for the domain name shows the index page is indexed, Google cache is a 404.

    Maybe all the servers haven't updated yet?

    Arefs shows a big drop in links, small rebound, then a spike in referring domains in the last week like someone tried to recover the site.

    Any WMT messages?
