Stumped on a question...
I have a post, and I want to pull in a sample to a sidebar widget in wordpress.
Any idea how to do this so it's automatically updated, not a copy-paste exercise for me?

Just use the standard recent posts widget or any of the hundreds of alternative similar plugins (assuming I'm understanding your requirements correctly)

No, I use that, but the recent posts only pulls in the titles of the most recent posts, say 5 in my case.
I want to pull in the beginning content of 1 post in particular to basically 'highlight' it in my sidebar.

In that case, there are hundreds of other recent post plugins that show an excerpt of the post.
