Hey Guys,

I have a site which is ranking highly however the guy now wants, when someone clicks onto the site to be taken to a splash page were they can choose to go to two different site's (both sites are on the same domain) will this redirect efect rankings?

If so is there a way to do it safetly to avoid drop in rankings?

Splash pages are the worst thing ever invented for the web, they're annoying for traffic (unnecessary extra click). If the splash page is the Index page URL it's just a poor idea to rank the page when you could be spending your time/money ranking a money page.

Search Google for an authority site that has a case study ripping on splash pages & show that to the client, you'll be doing the client a favor by ranking web pages that matter (ex: money page, lead capture page, etc...).

The more clicks traffic has to do the more traffic drops off along the sales funnel. Keep the sales funnel short & simple, don't make traffic think, they bail before they put too much effort into trying to figure out unnecessary links/pages.
