Hi. I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. I have a question regarding proper domain SEO. What would be better in Googles eyes dogsncats.com or dogsandcats.com? If both were available which would you choose for better overall SEO?
Thanks!

Brand the domain for traffic & do SEO, an EMD (Exact Match Domain) isn't SEO.

I don't get it. Are you being helpful? If so, how? Or are you being sarcastic and if so why? Again, I don't get it.
        Thanks

    Be nice!

Chris, just go with what sounds best for people. Dogsncats.com doesnt look as good to me as dogsandcats.com.

Regarding SEO it probably doesnt make much difference unless you are trying to rank for exactly "dogs and cats" then the dogsandcats.com domain is better.

But all things being considered there are a million more important things to spend your time on.

    The most important ones being:

    - Site design.
    - Quality content.
    - SEO optimization - keywords, links etc.
    - Other promotion methods, whether its via blogs, forums, social media, yellow pages or whatever the best place for your audience to find you.

    Hope that helped.

Thanks bro! That's ALL I wanted to know and that's what I figured. Just wanted to hear it from someone smarter than me. I appreciate your honest and non "Napoleonic" answer. Apparently some of these big time SEO's need to "get some" if you know what I mean instead of making themselves look and feel better by bashing others that are less accomplished. That is just not what I have found the WF to be about until I posted this thread tonight. I have never been disrespected like THAT before. Have always been helped above and beyond just like you have.
It's all good though...Were' all just squirrel's trying to get nuts and I'm getting ready to go upstairs and bust another one!
      Make it a great night!

It doesn't really matter as EMD's no longer have much weight. I would go with whatever is more brandable and easy to remember. Having an exact match will make little to no difference, but that's just me..

You want the truth? You are slapping together an EMD with crap,
scraped, skewered, broiled, copied, aped, and sliced content....

So your question is like, which swiming suit should I wear if I want to
      dive off Niagra Falls?

Now, if anyone gives you an answer like, "Oh check out the latest fashions
to see what the guys are wearing. Make sure you dive in the Summer.
Since it's a long way down, you might not want to wear a speedo," that
means they are just rattling stuff off, not actually looking at what's
      being proposed.

Make a serious site with serious content that deserves to be in google
SERPs. The domain does not matter.

But for you, it's all domain! Rock on!

I never really thought about that. Funny since I have a domain name that includes a "N". hxxp://www.capntravel.com

I'd go with a brand based domain.
Neither of your options are great for SEO.

Using "And" won't do much anyway as it is a "stop word", meaning it essentially gets filtered out of queries, or given low priority.

Neither AND nor N will help for SEO! You just have to choose one which you think will be easier to remember by your visitors! I would choose N, but you know better!

Both are good but the shorter the better. However, EMDs are still better domains provided you can rank them. They are first choice of searchers if found them on page one; and that is what makes them more relevant for clicks.

    Cheers and good luck.

    Chris,

Build a strong brand regardless of what your main keyword is.
If you manage to include a keyword into your brand name, and it looks organic - great. If not - fine.

To me a website called "dogsandcats" lacks unique flavor, unique selling proposition as they say in marketing.

Plus, as many have said or implied here, exact match domain names are out of fashion.

Forget EMD. You need a brandable and catchy domain. I doubt both the domains you mentioned are available anyway. EMD are continuing to hold less weight in rankings. It's about the quality of your site content.

    Hey Chris,

If it's a niche site, nothing too fancy. Nothing you really want to build a brand. Then just go with whatever. If you want to go with a brand. Then make it a brand name.

Domains don't really matter anymore in terms of SEO. It does help a little, but nothing noticeable. (I mean nothing noticeable.)

Who sells more shoes, Zappos or site-that-sells-shoes.com? Who sells more geek toys, ThinkGeek or fun-geeky-gadgets.com?

Your domain has no SEO benefit, and doesn't do anything for your business.

    Build a brand.
