Hi, At first I requesting you to move this topic on Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum. This is the first time I have seen a press release or Ezine Article being listed as a bad backlink. I know a large percentage of websites online have links from these sources or similar sources, but I highly doubt everyone will get a bad link notification. It does appear, for some reason or another, that Google is giving this individual website a hard time. There are two important things that Google has warned us about with this update

    • Google does not want you to use optimized anchor text
    • Google wants you to use a "no follow" tag in the links in the press release

At the same time we have a few suggestions for writing press releases:

    • Use infographics as press releases instead of writing them.
    • Use videos and images. Google values its own property highly and if you can add a video.

Press releases are a great way to let people know about the service that you are offering but you should keep in mind that you are not supposed to spam with them.

    Have a nice day

Any back-linking method works unless it comes with over-keyword-optimization (which Google specifically is against it)

Imagine you advertise the same ad on TV. People will get bored overtime with your offer. You may want to use a different ad offer (while keeping its core) for each channel

The same goes with back-linking. Use different links (e.g. with and without http://, www. / ) and use less keyword rich links.

Press releases still work. They also help with direct (and relevant) visits. Just like blog commenting does.

Was this helpful? Do you have any further questions?

That is totally not true. You can vary your anchor text all you want, but if you blast a site with crappy backlinks, it will tank.

Both ain't bad in the real sense but it's not a good way to get backlinks to your site or even near to positively impact on your rankings..

Press releases are good if you have something to actually release a press release about. If you are just using the junky free PR sites that IM'ers treat like article directories, it's a waste of time. If you are using a real PR service and creating real worthwhile press releases that have a chance of getting picked up and syndicated by authority sites, then it can be worthwhile.

Ezine is trash. I wouldn't waste my time with Ezine if you are submitting articles there for backlinks.

If you're press releases are not ranking the issue might be with your keywords that ou are using. If you are using keywords and you're press releases are still not ranking then you might even want to consider back linking to them to make them stick better.

    Best of Luck,

    Justin

I bet the EZA article is ranking.

Whoever owns EZA has the perfect setup ($$).

At one time, Ezinearticles was a good thing. But like all good things, it got abused by greedy marketers who saw it as a dumping ground for useless content to get a fast backlink. And, Google saw that and fixed the loophole.

Press release is still an effective way of getting backlinks. Just make sure you’re getting links from high authority sites. Also, it is better to use a paid press release service.
