Good Afternoon Warriors,

So I have been out of the game for a few months now and I have a blog that has become my primary focus.

MTGOstrat.com | Magic the Gathering Decks and StrategiesMTGOstrat.com | Magic the Gathering Decks and Strategies is a site that focused around magic the gathering trading card game. Inside the game there are many different formats of play and we focus on a more budget friendly style called pauper. The site was created back in feb 2013 and has gone over many changes not only in theme but content and style. We produced about 1-2 articles per day and have 3 weekly podcasts also associated with the site. We have seen growth in traffic every month until this month. Last month we have 33000 total visits with 70700 pageviews, I am estimating for this month that we will finish with 24000 visits with 56000 pageviews.

The blog is a wordpress based sites, and utilizes the SEO plugin by Yoast. I have done some social media based promotion. I've started a twitter account and grew that within the community but have a minor 130 twitter followers. We tweet out every article that is posted with the matching hashtags. We have a facebook page that isn't really maintained. A google plus page that I try to promote but it doesn't seem to get a lot of love as a lot of players don't really use g+. I post a lot of articles up on reddit and that has received a lot of success in the past but currently has been getting some disgruntled comments about people saying that I am just spamming the reddit thread.

As far as backlinks, I've done some backlinking but not sure if im doing it correctly.

MTGO Pauper would be an example of what I have been trying to do around some blogs but they usually just get deleted or not approved. I want the site to rank for the search term MTGO. Maybe not the #1 result because the mothership (the company website) ranks #1 and we will most likely never take them down.

What I need help with. Im trying to push the site to my first goal of getting 100,000 pageviews a month and to get there I figure I'll need somewhere in the range of 48-50,000 visitors a month. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas to help build my brand and reach that goal.

Thanks for your time.
-Will

Will, you are on the right track. But we advise you to change some aspects of your site promotion campaign.

First, you need to change your approach to link building and focus on accumulating high-quality relevant backlinks. In order to increase your website traffic, it’s important to accumulate links from authoritative niche-related sites. You may suggest your guest posts, reach out to local business directories such as Bing or YellowPages.com, etc..

Second, put more efforts into SMM - utilize social media to the max and post, post, post. Add social media buttons to your site. Don't ignore your Facebook community, as it can be a good source of social traffic. You may also launch paid Facebook promotion campaigns and Youtube ads and see they will work.

Third, you need to create some outstanding high-quality content that will get shared on the Web and will drive more organic traffic to your website.

    All that should help.
