Confused newbie doesn't know where to start

I am yet another newbie here. What brought me into this was researching on the web about a surefire way to start making money without a big capital investment (I have no money or credit to do that). For me, I am determined to find a way to make this work...I just need not to screw up and end up back where I was before. This is because I am absolutely terrified of having to return to another thankless job and evil boss again after what already happened.

Basically, I did what everybody expected of me...went to college and got a degree. My degree was specialized for mapping and promised good money out of college. Of course, after getting into big financial trouble, driving a long distance and taking 15 hours of classes a semester to finish school I finally got that good paying job. It was NOT what I expected or hoped. I had a sociopathic boss out to get me from day one. The work was hard, long and very boring even though it is related to my interests. I gained 25 lbs from sitting day after day in front of a monitor with no break. 13 months and 13 days later (isn't that ironic) and a lot of abuse and drama inbetween, I found myself unemployed and really burned out on the corporate world, so I am here. In fact, the first I heard of this forum was from Daniel Molano...while I have not ordered his "Newbie Blueprint", I was curious about this forum from his mention of it.

I do have some background with internet. I published a giant hobby-related website with a few neat graphic elements that existed from 2003-2008. I took a web design class in college that led to a restructuring of that site, but the problems with hosting on somebody elses site (meaning no traffic) and lack of time to finish a site of that magnitude led me to abandon those efforts. However, my training in that was basically html. I am not a programmer, weak in database, and javascript and php for me are essentially copying someone else's code. I also have several blogs including one active one. On that blog I put up several affiliate ads from clickbank and amazon. It's been about two weeks now and I have received $0 from any of those despite steady traffic to the blog since it started. Most are from clickbank though I managed to get Amazon on there. I even attempted SEO, but I think traffic remains the same. I was also rejected by Target and E-Bay for affiliates on it (of course mention of a store that Target bought out probably didn't help LOL).

With my ability to do websites and a few other hobbies worth blogging about, I'm trying to come up with a good plan to make cash off the internet. Selling a physical, tangible product is not for me...all affiliate marketing for now until I figure out what to sell and have gotten some capital. Here are some things I am planning to come up with a better strategy: buying Rosalind Gardner's latest version of her book, creating a new blog based on a broader interest and finding a way to make it marketable and create webpages/landing pages where necessary. I have thought about Google Adwords, etc, but I am trying to find a way around spending a lot of money on the internet to get this started.

Nevertheless, making a blog of interest is not the best strategy for me in this I believe. I know some guys with a similar blog who posted ads. They said they do make money off of it, but that it's not enough to quit their day jobs. However, their blog is far more frequently updated and far superior to mine even though we started at the same time. This was because the whole time I was being worked to death on my last job along with a long commute, maintaining a relationship, family illness, trying to do night classes for further college study (a disaster so far) and numerous other problems.

I guess what I'm looking for is people here in the know who can set me on the right track without leading me to a scam (I always research every product that sounds like a scam). I've read advice, advice, advice but all of it is vague and sounds really hard for someone who isn't an advanced graphic designer, programmer, has a clear product to sell or has special training in marketing (as in sales, degree).

    Hi James,

You're in the right place. I spent a long time trying to figure out how to escape the wrath of office life doing a job that was making me miserable so I know where you are coming from when it comes to working for an evil boss working to make someone else rich. It's not your fault my friend, that's what we are all taught from a young age. Get an education, get a good job and live happily ever after... right? I used to even read junk mail desperately looking for answers before I went to work and I don't mind sharing with you that I thought everyone making real money outside of a regular job was keeping all the secrets to themselves ( I was convinced of it ) or solely getting rich selling me the thing that was supposed to make me rich.

If you're time poor and cash rich you can exchange money for someone elses time. However, you are currently cash poor and time rich so you need to do some legwork to get the momentum train going for yourself.

You don't need to be technical, you don't need to be a designer or a programmer either. Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online so don't give up on that prematurely ( no sirree ).

Here are 2 I highly recommend you check out:

    1) Bum Marketing Method - Travis Sago is the man behind this and he knows what he's talking about. You can get started bum marketing for FREE and I highly recommend you take his advice on board and look at how he does business.

    2) Affiloblueprint ( link goes to my blog post on this ) - Mark Ling is the man when it comes to making money from building affiliate sites and making serious money out of them. This course costs money but if you intend to put it into action it's really worth the small investment in your 'online education' because he is a great teacher and makes money doing this ( a lot of money ).

Once you decide upon something follow it through with laser focus or you will just get distracted and end up not getting the results you had hoped for. Ignore all the 'shiny objects' and latest greatest things. The fundamentals will always work and the two I have recommended above, if followed, will enable you to make a good income online but only if you take action and follow their advice to the letter ( you can tweak things as you want as you get more experienced but to begin with just follow their advice a-z ).

Good luck and go for it.
