Multiple Keywords Within Keyword Phrase

Hey Friends,

I've tried looking for an answer to this, but didn't find anything. When optimizing for long tail keyword phrases, you'll often include shorter keyword phrases within the larger phrase. Does this aid in helping you rank for the shorter keyword phrases too? For example, will optimizing for "Best Air Jordan Shoes of All Time" also help you rank equally well (assuming competition is the exact same) for the phrase "Best Air Jordans"?

Would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Certainly, but it pays when you use both keywords as anchor when backlinking.

This will help you rank for both of your keywords...

    It definitely does.
Essentially, any words/shorter phrases within your long tail keyword will have the ability to rank given that your page is optimized for it.

Yes, you are essentially asking an all too common question but from the reverse perspective.

Most people ask whether, when optimizing for the shorter terms, they should use long tail phrases (for both anchor text and on-page factors) and while you are asking whether optimizing for long tail aids rankings of the shorter terms, the logic is the same.

Variety, both on-site and off-site, are the makings of good rankings.
