Hi, I've been googling but still in doubt.

A blog with a sticky sidebar - with just 2 google adsense square's widgets on it.

i.e the sidebar sticks. the blog posts/content scrolls
.
In someway it looks 'floating' to me. eventhough its nothing less than a passive sidebar.

Your opinon - Allowed (by google) or not?

Thanks for your input!

is the ad moving whatsoever in the sidebar? If it is you should make it stop asap. Adsense clearly states this is a no-no.

might want to take one of them out of the sidebar and put it within some text so you can actually attempt to get some relevant ads in your posts.

      Hi rickycopy! thanks!

Well that sorta tricky. it depends on how fast the plugin loads.

It should - just be sticky. not moving at all.

It often 'lags' and pops/moves back next to the actual content, so its really inbetween.

i just noticed that 9gag.com is using quite the same but with just one ad at the end of their sidebar.

      still in doubt!

9gag.com was worth visiting this thread alone.

You really would be best to go to an official source instead of relying on peoples opinion on this forum as it's not worth risking your adsense account is it.

I know exactly what you want to do and I've thought exactly of doing the same thing as I'm sure it will increase CTR but until I know for sure it's not against TOS then I'm not going to risk it.

IMO it should be allowed as far as it is not overlapping or overlapped by the contents of the page.

Your opinion means nothing unless you work for the google adsense department

      Beware of semantics.

Ads cannot scroll. Okay. But the ads are not scrolling, the
      background/webpage is.

Then what, pray tell, do you think google means by no ads
scrolling? Any plain-jane website has scrolling ads as
EVERYTHING SCROLLS! So google MUST be referring to
something else other than normal scrolling of a page.
AH! There it is! It's not normal scrolling...

The ads are scrolling in the true sense of the word. They stick
with your scrolling of the page. Hence, they are scrolling along
with you. Beware of the words and explanations that are chosen.
No difference than a floating ad that sticks.

Look at it this way. Google wants "natural" (I hate that word but
can't think of anything else) placement. So many people think
unnatural and that's what gets them in trouble.

Now maybe gags has a special relation with google. It happens.

Maybe, just maybe, because the ads don't get stuck until you
reach the "bottom," perhaps that does not break the TOS.

Why would anyone risk their account and still debate this?

Complete nonsense. But, like I have said many times, no wonder
there are so many adsense ban threads.

BTW: 9gag has more than one violation. Hardly a site worth
      going to for TOS advice.
