Which do you use as your primary source of traffic and why? I'm interested to hear people's views and experience with various types of traffic.

Please share what's working well for you now, what's not working & if you were to start from scratch with your business, with what you now know what would you do differently?

    PPC mostly, but also a lot from Facebook fans, which is organic I guess.

    Favorite PPC source is Facebook followed by BingAds. I focus on those 2 primarily for email subscribers and new Facebook fans.

    I'm a big fan of Free Organic Traffic and never pay of traffic. Because when I do, I get Organic Traffic from Search Engines. It's free and most important type for Adsense sites.

    Of course both of them can work well, there are many people on here that makes a lot of money with either or both of those.

    To me it is mostly a time vs. money question.

    PPC takes less of your time, but you need to constantly invest money to find out what works.

    Organic traffic is always about building a site/community/facebook page which takes time and continual maintenance. It can be close to free, but only if you are able to produce quality content yourself in one form or another.

      I use PPC as my best performing source to harvest the existing demand. My niche is extremely crowded, so getting folks to our site from organic is difficult.
      Secondary channels are: social media and referrals.

    I think you will find organic almost always converts better than any paid traffic however it's just not as quick to get as paid traffic, you need patience for a organic traffic generating strategy to pay off but when it does the payoff can be quite large...

      Realistically starting an organic based strategy what would you suggest as some action steps I could take to get my presence noticed online.

      Are there different approaches to promote an authority site v promoting an affilliate promotions?

    well for me I'd go for Organic.. the result is lasting than the PPC plus you'll going to pay everyclick but not all click will convert to clients.

      well said georgefuller, I also prefer organic traffic first. And if the visitor click and not convert into client then no need to worry because we don't pay for any click.

    There is no "best". PPC works for some sites, Organic traffic for others.

    It all depends on the niche and type of site you have.
