Would you class this as good practice?

Hi Warriors,

I have something that is puzzling me and is always something that I would deem as bad practice and on the verge of spammy....

The reason why I am asking this is a lot of sites in my niche are doing thing and well I wondered if I am missing a trick?

All the links are internal links and are on content rich pages...

Your thoughts would be very much appreciated :-)

Don't mix up spammy with that, if it's needed. Look at the bottom of sites
like amazon, ebay, etc. They have a laundry list of links, sites, affiliates,
partners, countries, etc. What do you make of a site like craigslist?

There has to be more to it than just that.

I know thats what I am thinking... it looked a bit keyword stuffy but they all link to good pages.... so does add value :-)

Its not often that I have to ask about seo as I do have my head screwed on and do understand it extremely but this looked like an old tactic....

The only real way to be sure is to test it I suppose

Perfectly acceptable and likely a bad practice at the same time.

This is a perfect opportunity to silo the site.

One one page (like the home page), you could have links to Channel Islands, East Midlands, East of England, North East England, etc. And then on those pages you can link to the cities.

If it's just a matter of passing link juice to those pages a silo like above is probably a better approach. I doubt that doing it their way is good for usability as well.

A lot of businesses websites use this hideous practice.

From what I've seen though not great, doesn't really hurt them.
