Possible to place a widget in a widget

I have Wordpress installed on a site with a specific tailored theme.
This theme comes with a plugin that shows top rated reviews in a total random fashion (category wise).
However if I want to silo this blog a bit it would be helpful if I would only get the top rated reviews from that specific category show up in the sidebar widget.
But that widget obvious doesn't support any dynamics to exclude categories and that type of things.
I know there are widgets that do support that but then I would have to kind of place a widget in a widget.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
