Important SEO Question For Experts

Hi Warriors,

I'm going to start a SEO project with the collaboration of dozens of people (that will help me to write quality and quantity content).

What I'm wondering is this ... to better succeed in SEO, it is best to create a website on a specific niche / keyword, even better if using a specific keyword in the domain.

Or I can create a web portal divided into 15 main topics on which we are going to write with my team?

What is better? Which strategy can we get the best results?

With the creation of a "mixed" portal we will have the opportunity to create and publish more content.

I hope in your help, thanks!

First you have to use the SEO keyword if possible in the Domain, but don't limit your content to SEO only, it's better to mix it with other related topics like social media....
Second, SEO still work, but we see that Google limits SEO every day, so don't put all your eggs in the same basket, what if Google stop using it in the next years? so diversify your content to protect your business and never being related to one single topic.
You idea to divide the web portal into 15 main topics is good, just go on.
The best tip is the one that you can learn when browsing some of the Popular SEO websites and blogs, find how they organise their topics and what topics drive more traffic.
    Good Luck.

I also believe that we should not go overboard with SEO.

The only thing on which we should focus is to write quality articles, and their sharing (link building).

If G. stop using SEO's foundation "keywords", then what will generate search results?

        Ah, link building, yes.
Are we talking here about "links" G. wants to be removed from sites?

Choosing the niche option is always better ESPECIALLY when you're starting out. You'll get more traffic with less content when you go this route.

If you're going the multiple-topics route, it will take a long time before you start getting high rankings. And even when you do, it will only be for certain niche topics and not necessarily for all the content.

If your goal is to get lots of traffic and high returns using SEO tactics, choose the niche option. Pick the most profitable or hottest niche (check on Google trends) and go for that.

If your goal is to be a giant directory of information, like Livestrong or WebMD, than you won't get much SEO help when starting out for the first 1-2 years. For that kind of site, you need to use viral marketing and catchy content that gets shared easily.

Now I'm going to warn you...since it sounds like you have limited experience doing in ranking sites. If you don't know what you're doing and you try to target several keywords, you could very easily waste a lot of time and money and literally get ZERO results. I'm talking about nothing, no rankings, not even a share, not even a trickle of traffic. Because nobody, including search engines, including people, understands what your site is about.

      Hi StexM,

As we, all know that content is the most important thing regarding your keyword ranking, versatile content is essential to improve SEO value. It is not necessary to choose multiple niches rather you can look for relevant within one specific niche. Suppose your optimizing for the keyword 'London boat hire'. You have then the possibility to discuss all about London travel, destinations, packing tips, boat manufacturing, London history, London people and many more other than only 'London boat hire'. Therefore, think in this way and see through a wider window.

I see that others have understood the meaning of my question ...

Have you problems reading ... or to understand ... John?

      Which of the 2?

If you go for broad you might want to use the sub domain approach, or silo it properly.

If none is of your likings you would be better of with more niche specific.

Again, your question makes no sense, and if you think it does, then you're asking the wrong questions.

What exactly do you mean by "best results"?

        First page rankings in Google?
        Sales?
        Capturing leads?
        Conversions?

Do you want to put money in the bank or worry about vanity metrics?
