Google Chrome users can place your website personal block list chrome extension. This helps Google to further identify the bad websites. Chrome users can easily report bad websites through this extension. If you site is added in this list, it is more likely for you to have a low ranking because Google panda have picked up at least 80%

It’s worth noting that this update does not rely on the feedback we’ve received from the Personal Blocklist Chrome extension, which we launched last week. However, we did compare the Blocklist data we gathered with the sites identified by our algorithm, and we were very pleased that the preferences our users expressed by using the extension are well represented. If you take the top several dozen or so most-blocked domains from the Chrome extension, then this algorithmic change addresses 84% of them, which is strong independent confirmation of the user benefits.

  I wouldn't say myth, in 2011 google hinted at comparing the block list from chrome. They constantly change, maybe now they use chromes block list as a tool to help determine who's site to lower in search?

Google probably would not eliminate it from a search result.

Google would not need that info to identify bad sites.

Logic just comes upon me. Who would need to block sites? The average
Joe like me? No. I'm no idiot. I just won't go there. Perhaps parents,
schools, etc. would, but then, if that was their bag, they would be using
software or other ways to block sites.

I use spybot, and they do the list automatically, or something like that.

Create a site that nobody would block, and you have solved the problem.

Here's my final thought. Google+ is going to be the end all to and all, and
eventually taking over google. (sounds silly? not really) As soon as they,
and other "social" entities come up with ways to "dislike" something, and
have that be meaningful, blocking sites is a nonissue.

If google+ ever starts getting data like that, boom, watch out. Google could
very well toss that into their search algo, at least by demographic.

I wanted to start a thread on google+ really morphing google.

At least this is rather new topic.

Since G+ was mentioned... I read an article on some UK news site where they said that UK teens were bailing out on Facebook for other social sites. FB is the new Myspace as far as teens are concerned, they don't want to hang out with parents. Keep in mind teens are the ones that made Myspace so popular back in the day (how'd that work out).

There was no mention of G+ in the article. IMO G+ is something being forced on people (SERPs, etc...), not something people are seeking out because it's popular. Now, remember Google Friend Connect (neither does anyone else)?

Every social site/product on the net has an expiration date.

As far as the Chrome blocking paranoia, it's possible Google does track blocked sites, why wouldn't they track something they created? Doubtful it matters for SEO, the average site probably never gets blocked by any Chrome user. Why waste energy blocking when you can simply close the browser/tab?

  They also had the best of the best working for them when they gave up on Google Video & bought out Youtube.
  
  It's easier to buy traffic (ex: Youtube) than to train millions of users to migrate to a new product (ex: creating Google Video vs buying Youtube). That goes for any site/product.
  
  I can see FB ending up like the dot com failures back in 2000. I've never seen how FB could stand on it's own, it's like a business built on a bunch of nothing, take away the games & funny photos & what's left for content?
  
  G+ on the other hand is basically branding. It's sort of like Coca-Cola has their brand on Sprite cans, G+ has their logo on all Google products. I could be wrong but I don't see G+ ever being a social powerhouse. You can force branding on people but it still won't make them use another product, like G+ in Google SERPs, I see G+ logos but I don't use G+. I don't know anyone offline that uses G+, they have Google accounts because of Gmail or YouTube, but they don't actually use G+. It's like the saying, you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

  You are right...google+ a social powerhouse. It's not really geared
  for "social." But if social and search ever get together and marry...
  that's what google+ seems to be aiming for.
  
  Look at it this way. With the webmasters falling over each other
  after panda, penguin, etc., and still trying to shmooze google's
  algo, can you imagine the stampede to google+? Google's rolled
  this thing out slowly on purpose. To avoid the IM clowns. The
  more they tweak it, like using your real name, etc., the more
  it could be what FB dreamed about.
  
  If anyone could actually do it right, it would be google. They don't
  hire people like healthcare.gov. And they also cut their losses,
  quietly I'll admit.
  
  FB right now is social. Nothing else. And it rocks socially. That's
  why it sucks for anything else.
  
  That's why chrome, google+, disliking-liking sites, truly could be
  earth shattering in 2014.
  
  Can you imagine blocking a site would block it for your friends
  as well, or send them a message like, Joe Blow is blocking so and
  so. Do you want to block it?
  
  Right now I get emails from twitter, FB doing similar with people you
  may know, tweets you may like, etc.

Even with thousands of proxies you would still have a single Chrome browser version number (ex: Version 32.0.1100.37) which would be an obvious footprint.

If you block all of your competitors sites from your search results. Your site ends up in No1 spot in Google for all your keywords. What an epic SEO tool.

If is it, then all webmaster get a new way to get ranking to own site. Just find out high ranked site, those ranked similar to your keyword and block them.
