I have recently created a site about Far Cry 4 game. But the main problem is a huge number of competitors. My question is that how much links will i need to dominate for a single keyword, worth 1 Million monthly searches.

Far Cry 4 is not even announced yet. So you have enough time to get your site tanked

Let me fix that: "So you have enough time to get your site tanked."

Despite the overwhelming pessimistic view on your ranking ability, there are more pressing issues to address here.

Your website is one page, and doesn't offer any value or reason for someone to visit it. The title contains "Far Cry 4" but you are leaving searches on the table. Title should be around 75 characters to fully maximize this keyword real estate.

Far Cry 4| Far Cry gameplay and video game review

You should get social network signals to your website before going into link building. Then you can approach video game bloggers using myblogguest and write guest posts for entertainment and video game based websites.

There isn't a magical number of links, but if you have social and links your rankings will rise. Just make sure to provide value, whether that's reviews, a forum (hard to start), or your personal gameplay video footage / walkthroughs.

You should also jump 4 times and spin in a circle before you start link building that's very important.

You're going to be up against a lot of huge (big name, deep pocket) competition. And, a blog or Facebook page is not going to have the same kind of pulling power as one of the top game sites online. You will be better off finding a subniche or riding the coat tails of other big sites than trying to compete head to head.

Yea you really aren't going to be able to take on the big keywords by your self. Focus on the smaller long tail keywords like "Should I buy Far Cry 4". There will be less people searching, but also less competition, which means you would need to invest less time/money on link building before you start getting traffic.

Are backlinks with "Should I buy Far Cry 4" as anchor text necessary to optimize the SERP for such a smaller long tail keyword?
