Lost SERP and don't know why

Some of my domains have totally lost their SERP within the last months. Maybe I ran into any kind of "spam trap" when I tried to build up some backlinks?!

What is the best approach to figure it where the ranking loss came from?

    If you think you were hit because of your backlink profile than yes, you were probably hit because of that.

    At this point you should analyze your backlinks using backlink checkers or hire a service to analyze and get rid of the backlinks for you. You'll likely do more damage than good if you try and do it yourself without the right expertise.

    What types of links were you building?

      I was posting with a backlink in a PR7 forum, but I guess it was quite spammy and not related to my content. But I think the backlink was helpful (at least for a different domain which was not listed at Google before).

      And then I got a PR4 backlink from a blog post but with a different anchor than my content was.

      Furthermore, I lost one or two PR2 backlinks because the sites were removed.

      But I'm not sure if one of those things has to do with the lost SERP.

    But I would like to see the reasons black on white.

      Black = You lost two links
      White = You lost Rankings

      Black and White = You lost rankings because you lost two links.

    Victim of negative SEO activities? It's quite popular nowadays.
    Maybe you can check your backlinks using ahrefs and find out about your total backlinks and linking domain ratio?

    Check when was the last GOOD ranking! It could be bad backlinks, duplicated content... so many reasons!
