Niche or General Blog

I've been reading about this and haven't found an answer yet.

I was wondering whether Niche Blogging or a broader range of blogs matter?

Or is the only thing that really matter is the content and traffic?

It's mostly just about content and traffic really, I mean, you are looking at two separate methods. Do you want to build an authority site or build a host of niche blogs?

I always found that it was easier to rank long tail keywords on niche blogs than it would a general authority blog, however the results produced by authority sites can be much more pleasing!

Niche blog that you know about.

This will make your blog an authority, so you can easily make money out of it for a long run.

I say go for a niche blog, or a general blog that targets long tail keywords.

I will go with niche specific website or blog than a general one. This way you will get more authority and love from Google too.

Rather than being Jack of all trades, I will prefer being master of one.

Most important, select a niche which you know rather than following a trend.

Niche based blogs are much more safer and efficient.

Well in my opinion niche based blogging is preferred in terms of less competition and higher revenue.

Thank you for all the feedback,

So far, everybody prefers a "Niche" blog over a general niche.

In addition, wouldn't a niche blog really be competitive? The only niche that I would ever be able to blog about being money and business related. I assume that there are practically millions of people that are competing in this niche.

Are there any factors that I should be aware about in a competitive niche?

Target a sub-niche of money, business, etc... What do you know about money or business? Make a list, narrow it down to a sub-niche, do keyword research (traffic volume).

What you're selling makes a difference for the amount of traffic you'll need, is it a $10 product or a $500 product (examples)?

If you pick a very large niche subject that covers the entire spectrum of a subject, it can be just as hard to optimize as if you picked no niche at all for your blog. Define your blog's target niche, even creating or expanding subniches within one blog and then fully explore that and you will attract not only search engines but an audience of real readers.

A member here - View Profile: Adie - said that he makes 10 times as much on his authority sites as he does on his niche sites.

    Obviously Niche Blogging matters.

So let's say you want to write about internet marketing, just think about how many other blogs focus on that subject. So what gives your blog any chance? Why not narrow it down to email marketing or social marketing and networking or just specifically focusing on Facebook or Pinterest, rather than the full subject of internet marketing. Then develop that one blog until you have a loyal thriving readership and branch out into other very narrowly defined but related niches. Eventually you can link your blogs together, not just for SEO benefit (as they will be similarly themed but unique subniches of a larger theme) but also share readers from one blog to another.

Niche site is better as long as you have time to maintain it.

I have experimented both having specific niche and general
In fact right now i am running both type of blogs
For me i think niche specific does better then general one's
You have option to specify your niche to advertising companies and you make more by getting targeted visitors,
Also it helps manage your site easily

I've done a lot of thinking, if blogging requires a great amount of time to constantly write blogs in order to gain traffic, it might not be for me.

To be honest, my writing isn't that great so I might be doing some more reading on another way to make money with internet marketing!

Anybody else share a similar experience?

Niche blogging is the key. Your niche blog becomes your authority site.

Get your readers to opt-in and build your list. Then send powerful email sequence to your list.

Have sales letter sites for each individual product if each product fairly well priced.

Niche blog should be content rich and you must be experienced in your specified niche.
