Hello everyone, I am sort of new to the IM world but was wondering is there was another good website to use for keyword research besides google adwords?

You can try Traffic Travis's free version (definitely for researching the competition of the keywords you find via Google Keyword Planner).

I think they might have keyword research in there as well.

Thanks. I'll check it out. I was also wondering if it was possible to rank a keyword in the long run over websites such as amazon and about.com etc. For example, if I were to pick a physical product item as the domain name, would I be able to beat it (overtime) on the first page over amazon's webpage result.

I'm not an expert so I don't know for sure, but what I can say for sure is that lately it's gotten VERY hard to beat amazon (or any online retailer of physical products) for those spots.

For about.com, though, you might have a better chance.

I see. I guess as long as I can reach the first page for a 100,000 monthly search term, it would do ok for a blog.
