Sculpting branded SERPs with alternative tactics

Hi there,

Pretty typical project here - we want to sculpt the branded SERPs to move positive stuff like social media properties, Yelp profiles, YouTube videos, and positive reviews/articles up and stuff like rip off report and complaintsboard forum posts down or out of the SERPs completely.

We've been trying to do it all squeaky clean whitehat for a while now; build the authority of the properties in hopes they'll jump over the negative stuff. Progress is slow so it's clear we need to get more aggressive with link building, but how aggressive?

Does anyone have any experience with blackhat tactics to accomplish this kind of thing? Is it a viable option to blast the bad articles with negative SEO (tons of links all at once) so they get dinged by Penguin and removed? Is it possible for Google to connect the dots and do anything about it? Is it safe to use blackhat link building on something like a YouTube video we own to try to get it to rank? As far as I can tell, if it gets penalized then that won't affect our website at all.

Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks.

Please post in the correct sub forum

Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum

Also, no one here will probably share "blackhat" SEO tactics

I do stuff like this all the time. And can tell you that your idea of building backlinks to neg seo. Is the worst approach possible, there are far easier and more effective techniques with rep management.

Can you expand on how it's done for us then? How is it easy? I can't even find a decent blog post explaining how to do it, all I get is outdated articles, vague rhetoric and lists of worthless tools. Seems like it's a matter of manually building links to the pages I want to rank and that's always difficult and time consuming.

I work with clients who have brands so I spend a lot of time getting things removed from SERP listings. The setup took a long time to perfect so em no..forgive me for not giving you step by step anything.

Other websites do not have your permission to review your products, brand or domain. Start by letting them know that..

I don't think you know how Ripoff Report works. Thanks so much for your "I know how to do it but I'm not going to tell you" input. Build links, got it.

Yeah, which is fine. If the person searching is genuinely after reviews/complaints then they can and should be able to find them. I just don't want them on regular branded queries.

That's not what I suggested you to do.

I implied to you that "infringement" is the best option.

I'm not going to tell you exactly how I do it, because it's an important part of my job in SEO. I have a templated system for it, I've worked at it for years getting it right.

People really don't like to infringe these days.

Theres another method I know using the disavow tool, but if I told you that one I'd have to kill you...

I'm not from US, but I know ripoffreport. I'm also not a specialist on backlink spamming, but I think it would be quite difficult to fight this kind of (in)famous site with that kind of tactic. It seems to have 100k backlinks and 3000 linking sites - do you think you could make a dent in that?

I'd try to put better results on 1st SERP.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
