Searching your own website

I'm sure many of us have made the mistake of searching for your own website and then being delighted when it is at number one on Google. Then when you search on somebody else's computer, it's nowhere to be seen. I've done this before, it turned out that if you are signed in to your Google account, you get biased results.

So my question is simple, if you make sure you're not signed in to your Google account and then carry out a Google search remove those biased results?

I spend a lot of time optimising my website to target keywords and obviously I need to know that the results I am getting are correct. I do use a program called Rankerizer which from what I can tell gives fairly accurate results. But it would be nice to know that you could use a proper search engine and know the results you are seeing are what everybody else will see.

    • Do the keyword search with Rank Checker (Firefox plugin). Just make sure to change the plugin settings so Google doesn't block your IP for searching too fast.
