Hi Everyone,

So I have a personal blog I have been using for the last few years and have always used All in one SEO but now I would like to use wordpress seo by yoast.

Can I add it, then start using it instead of All in One. I understand that I cant delete All in one SEO because I would lose all the information from the pervious posts but I'm just wondering if its ok to switch.

Thanks Everyone

Edson

if you delete the plugin - you will loose plugin configuration - your previous titles will remain same.

This is not a problem. Just deactivate All in one seo plugin, but dont delete it. Install SEO by Yoast, and there is a option where you can import setting from All in one seo plugin. Once you import check your post if it has any issues. If everything is fine you can delete all in one seo plugin. I would also recommend you to take backup before you do this change.

Usually the plugins save their settings so that they don't get deleted even if you delete the plugin. It's not too uncommon to have to disable or delete plugins when there's a major problem with the site. Yoast SEO even stores the custom stuff in the same place that WP's own custom field data is kept.

As pointed out, Yoast SEO does have an import tool.

There's a thread here somewhere, and if you'd look for the plugin with the most "me too" one-liners I guess it's Yoast SEO. I do like the plugin myself because of the control it allows. However, if a site happens to have All in One SEO I'm not going to switch. They both do a fine job of modifying titles and adding meta descriptions which is the main purpose of a SEO plugin.

        Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the comments. Well I actually looked over all my SEO setting and it seems everything was deleted when my blog was hacked a few months ago. So basically all the SEO stuff is gone.

I have uploaded Yoast SEO. I'm sure its ok but cant I just redo all the seo tabs for each post. I know its my marketing blog and has a lot of posts but no seo, no search results.

        Regards,
        Edson

How did you fix the hacked site? If it's the same content and database, meta descriptions and titles should be intact. If you moved the contents over to a new WordPress instance it's possible that something got lost in the process. It's not likely that hacker would just randomly delete something like SEO settings.

If that stuff is indeed lost, I'd have Yoast SEO use a template for meta description and edit the fields when I had the time and energy.

If your site is not in Google index, I think it's more likely that it was dropped because of the hack. Check if you have messages in Webmaster Tools.
