I would argue that some SEO is still needed for ranking purposes but the article makes some great points.

    TL;DR - Content marketing with market research and hyperbolic headlines. Supported by networking with site owners, and a touch of Sponsored stories from Facebook's DIY marketing platform.

    Hardly anything new, and the sensationalist "SEO dead" BS kinda bothers me, but still a nice example of strategic thinking.

    He says to forget about and he recommends to promote the content, if that is not linkbuilding at its core (the base of SEO) I dont know what it is,

    I still think that the CORRECT way of doing it is to use PPC first to FIND the keywords that convert and make you money. Then you want to optimize your site for those keywords via SEO ... but without running PPC first you don't know the keywords you optimize for are the correct ones unless you already spent months of work. Do it the smart way
