Why not look in the Google Keyword Planner and compare the data?

    Chances are, Wordtracker is off.

Also, searching for something in quotes and looking at the number of listings, has NOTHING to do with the level of competition.

Now take that number & divide it by 2 & divide by 30 days. That's roughly 18 unique traffic on a good day ranked at position #1.

It depends what you are promoting. If 1 sale makes you $1000, it is more than enough traffic.

If you are just creating an AdSense site that will make $0.05 a click with no other keywords, then you are not going to make enough money to even cover the cost of the domain.

18 people search this keyword per day... About 30% of them could possibly visit your website... This means about 6-7 people... Do you think this will boost your sales? You should work on a bigger keyword (use this long tail keyword as a secondary one!)

Keep in mind that according to the researches done, 40% of the searchers
never done any clicks on any results in SERP. So typically you will end with:
1100*0.6 = 660 visit (if you are at #1 in SERP).

Meanwhile, google has more than 10,000 datacenters that really no one
can guarantee you that you will be in all those 10,000 datacenters at place one.

While you think you are at place 1 in your local datacenter, you might be
at place #4 in other datacenters.

So the net visitors you might get for this keyword, even if you are at
place 1 in SERP are far less than 660 clicks per month or far less than 22 clicks
        per day.

Yes, sure. If there are only 4 sites that are relevant to the query, you
might get more attention even at lower spots.
Great titles light up like a gold in every place in SERP.

Rarely does anyone search for anything in quotes. Do the same search without the quotes, and I am sure they will find more than 4 sites.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

I submit a ticket in wordtracker.com, they give me following answer.

Thanks for your message. The numbers are different because you're comparing different data sources. All datasets are a snapshot of search and so can't be guaranteed to have the same coverage for every niche. It's possible a dataset is stronger in some areas, weaker in others, so you might see some disparities.

Data from Google's Keyword planner shows average monthly searches ("Avg. monthly searches"): The average number of times people have searched for the exact keyword based on the location and Search Network targeting that you've selected. Google average the number of searches made for the term over a 12-month period.

Wordtracker's figures are the actual number of searches made on a major search engine advertising network which passes us, on average, 3.5 billion worldwide searches per month. They deliver traffic from hundreds of niche web properties, search engines and portals. The data is from the last calendar month. There is no extrapolation or averaging of data.

The searches that you see in Wordtracker are exactly as typed into a search box by a real person doing real searches (although we do remove certain characters, for example if a user has typed 'elvis+presley' into a search box, we'll show it as 'elvis presley'. We go to great lengths to remove spam or automated traffic.

Both Wordtracker and Google figures are a sample of the whole market; there's no such thing as an absolute truth in market research. The figures provide an indication of overall demand.

Meanwhile, you should use common sense when deciding whether to target the keywords you find (whether from Wordtracker or Google). You should think about whether you're likely to be able to rank for the keywords you're targeting (ie, how much competition do you face?) and whether visitors are likely to buy from you.

Depending on what keyword it is, I wouldn't just limit my thinking to that keyword only. If you rank for that and keep adding content then you should start ranking for the longer tailed keywords as well, so traffic should obviously grow with your site.

Also just to mention, I have a site in a UK niche that gets very little traffic, maybe 20 uniques or so a day. Not much competition to speak of and was pretty easy to rank, but still makes a tidy little side income each month so I wouldn't just dismiss it.

If you have to use a free tool, use the adwords tool. And, 3244 searches isn't a lot, if your product isn't a premium one.

Looks like they're saying wordtracker is global data which is the worst possible data to be looking at considering you (or anyone else) will never rank in all 100+ Google country SERPs.

Focus on whatever country search your trying to rank for (ex: US SERPs).

Global data is based on all these SERPs:

Personally, I have always found Wordtracker data to be highly inaccurate, and usually extremely overstated. I ran a few AdWords campaigns on some keywords and compared the data to Wordtracker. The actual traffic in Google was about 10% of what Wordtracker said.

That's the best way to be sure though. Run an AdWords campaign and see what the actual traffic is.

Are you planning on building website just for this one single keyword?

I would suggest trying to find some more keywords and build nice bigger website.
It will help you build better internal linking and rank for more long tail keywords.

But it is just a suggestion

    ps.
    try finding topics about SILO.

    • This is a great response.

The other thing is to make sure that the keyword has commercial intent as having competition is only one of a number of the metrics needed to make some bucks.
