Is there a substantial SEO benefit to using your keywords exactly as they appear in keyword research? For instance, if your keyword phrase is something like "vitamin supplements children", is it important to work that precise phrase into your title and the body of your article, or is it just as good SEO-wise to use a phrase like "vitamin supplements for children"?

    Hi,

If you do a search on Google for "vitamin supplements for children" (with or without quotes) you will notice that Google ignors the "for". So, it might not matter. However, I like to use exact keyword phrases when possible.

There are ways to get odd phrases into your copy without sounding like you don't know the language. For example, you could have a sentence "Even though ABC Company manufactures great adult vitamin supplements, children need vitamins formulated just for them." Or, "I'm going to the store to pick up some vitamin supplements. Children, make sure you mind the babysitter while I"m gone!"

As you can see your phrase, "vitamin supplements chilren", is there in both instances and it doesn't seem weird because search engines ignore punctuation.

    Hope that helps!

    Linda

there's a benefit since those keywords are exactly what was typed into the search box of the search engine and as Linda stated, you can use it with punctuation to avoid sounding funny.

Phrase match keywords allow you to target your Ads more accurately to ensure that the visitors you receive are looking for the exact product you are selling. Phrase match keywords also cost less to bid on compared to broad match keywords, as the keywords are more focused there is less competition for the best places.

    Exact Match Keywords

Exact match keywords work similar to phrase match keywords but will only cause your Ad to appear if the exact keywords are searched for. If there are any additional keywords either before or after your keywords your Ad would not be displayed.
To create exact match keywords you add square brackets around your keyword [like this]. Exact match keywords again can reduce your costs even further as there are even fewer people competing for your chosen keywords.
