The bold truth

Even though PPC marketing is the one of the most effective ways to drive highly targeted visitors, lots of marketers fail due to their improper understating and implementation of PPC game.

As a result lots of them get burned again and again and kicked out of the Adwords game losing thousands of dollars.

So, if you want to get rid of these and get the most from PPC marketing, you have to know the right way to play in the PPC game.

The best thing about PPC game is that in order to win you only need to understand, master, follow and coordinate certain key points.

Here are the key and critical points that need to know as successful PPC affiliate :

  • Do not enter the PPC game until you gain required knowledge and expertise
  • Select affiliate products that converts
  • Find and use the Most Profitable Keywords - Do not bid on generalized keywords and use the right keyword strategies .
  • Create and use powerful , relevant and Compelling Ad Copy;
  • Bid for Optimum Spot which brings Optimum ROI;
  • Target your ad so as to reach the right audiences for your products or services - you only need to find customers who are exactly looking for your products or services ;
  • Develop and optimize highly powerful , compelling , relevant and high converting landing page ;
  • Test , Track and optimize until you find a wining campaign ;Properly set and organize your account ;
  • Use the right Strategy and Manage your account effectively and efficiently ;
  • Proper Scaling - exploit your account in every way possible
  • Optimize and maintain good quality score through out your account

      Nice advice. I've been trying my hand at PPC for a while now and it does take a lot of work to get things right. Starting off slowly is probably one of the most important things for a beginner to remember.

      With click bank offers their is an attribute named "gravity" this is a number based on how many other people are driving traffic to the offer. If it is popular then it must be selling!

      Also, it never hurts to see what other people are selling run as fast search on google for a term like "gas grills" see what people are selling. Look at the top spots and take a note of the ads, write them down. Search again for several days and compare the top spots. If they are spending money on PPC then you can be sure that their product is profitable.

    You are of course right - but as someone doing AW for some years now i STILL think its an ultra complex thing to master.

    The fallacy is that its pretty easy to put up ads - but it takes a LOT of knowledge and then testing to do this PROFITABLE w/o throwing most of the money down Google's throat.

    Keyword research alone could be a whole profession itself, and it takes some knowledge and skills to understand all the relationships what affects Quality Score, therefore your cost/bids.
    Sometimes i wonder how many adwords advertisers actually DO have that knowledge.

      Hey George ,

      One of the biggest problems marketers take long time to understand and master PPC marketing is that from the get go most of them do not get the right mentor to guide them in the right direction .

      As a result lots of them take long time to master it .

      Other wise , if you get the right mentor and guide , I believe you can master the PPC game quickly and exploit it maximally .

    I bought your WSO and I'm happy with it. Although, to say you need to master this and master that is true however, to master anything you need x-amount of experience.

    I agree with George in that there are many small intricacies that are involved, everything from tracking (Prosper202 e.g.) to the budget needed to test campaigns, offers etc.

    Do you go with Search first, do you pick products that are uber-competitive (because you know they convert), do you go with Content, Site Placement, buying banners on sites, PPV, etc. etc. These are all CPC marketing techniques and as George said, the skill of finding and interpreting keywords is a very important one. Do you just use your brain, Quantcast, some expensive keyword tool requiring a monthly sub, etc.

    I don't have much experience in PPC > CPA but in 06/07 I would make about $30,000/month profit from just 1-2 hours work. It was PPC related but not dealing with CPAs

    I don't make nearly that amount now (best month was $40,000 profit) but I know from experience that there are many small factors involved and also cost factors for those who can't build/design LPs, have a huge budget to test, etc. etc.

    Your tips are great, your WSO is very good, but it's too easy to say "here's all you need to succeed".

    Overall though you're right, as the title of the thread, these are the best practices of successful marketers. Getting there is a treacherous journey if you have limited funds but I do feel it's the right direct, for me anyway.

      Hey Scott,

      Thanks for your valuable comment .

      I agree with your comments that in order to master any thing you need time .

      Because , time invested is experience gained .

      In any Internet marketing related business , nobody should expect to get rich overnight .

      You need to
      ...study

      ...work hard

      ...Be patience

      ...Work consistently

      ...Make a plan and work a plan

      ...and Take focused action .

      if you follow the above advice , I am sure you are going to make it .

    Mike,

    what's your "optimum spot"?

    I read many times that #1 is actually very bad in terms of ROI...it's the "clicker spot" but not necessarily the "buyer spot".

    #3 (first position on the SIDE) is actually considered better in terms of real ROI, maybe even the last one at #10.

    What's your observation in that regard?

      Hey George ,

      It is quite true that for highly targgted keywrods #3 (first position on the SIDE) is the optimum position that gives the highest ROI.

      But , this is not true for keywrods that are not highly targeted .

    Beginning a campaign using adwords can be a daunting prospect, the amount that can be spent in 20 minutes is frightening, especially if your recieving a limited rate of return.

    It is worth remembering that even a failed campaign can be used to your advantage vis-a-vis adjusting the campaign to words that will convert, just be careful you haven't blown all your yearly budget! ...adapt or perish!!! (financially speaking)

    Plan, plan, plan. A failed campaign can not only cost you money on the campaign itself, but it can affect the price you pay going forward, since the price you pay is based on the HISTORICAL CTR of your ads.

      Howdy,

      PPC has so many aspects to it that you can dissect components of it until you are blue in the face, and there will still be more that you could know.

      But there are some simple ways to start out that keep you on the right side of the bank balance. Here's one such "concept":

      If you are new, and you starting out with PPC, you can test products for local markets only--or regional markets--using some Geographic targeting that Google provides in your campaign set-up.

      The advantage of this, in my experience, means you can practice honing your skills in markets that don't cost much if you mess up...you're not going to go upside down on 5 cent clicks, and you avoid going up against the Big Guns right away in markets that are likely over your head, in terms of competition and savvy when you start out.

      So, let's just say, for example, that you had a little store down the way from you in your home town in Vermont, and this little store sold hand-crafted maple syrup and related maple sugar gift baskets.

      Well, why not work out a deal with that store to pay you for orders you get for maple syrup products online, they fulfill the orders and pay you each week. You put up a small 3-5 page site with some pictures of the products, testimonials from satisfied customers (this could Wordpress) with a paypal button and run some Adwords ads in areas where people are known to buy maple syrup (such as New York City, for example.)

      I know, it's not driving a Bentley and rolling in your online millions quite yet, but it's a way to start testing PPC without getting your teeth kicked in.

      And, it doesn't hurt to look for physical products that can be fulfilled for you locally--totally viable option, and potentially lucrative, too (with often less competition.)

      When it comes to PPC, it is good to read a good guide on the subject, or find a way to learn the basics, no matter how or where you start running your ads. I think Perry Marshall's work is very well put together on this subject, but there are others out there too, who put out decent adwords tutorials.

      Cheers.

      Yeah, PPC works if having good budget and nice product to sale along with an experienced bid management professional. Though i am more comfortable for going with SEO as it works for long run with low cost at better ROI.

    I am not an expert at converting or anything, I just sort of fell into marketing a certain product because I use it. It is a product that everyone in the US sees regularly on TV, radio, etc. There are commercial's everywhere, so people often just go on the internet searching for the product. I use a very very common misunderstanding of the name of the product for Adwords, I think my affiliate agreement does not allow me to use the name of the product. That's ok, I would like to learn more about Adwords. I'm using it, and I believe it is working, but it's hard to sort the Adwords results from the organic results my website is getting.
