Google Disavow tool question

I am trying to remove the Negative SEO backlinks some slime ball put to my site...so I create a .txt in notepad and put all the data in it, I then try to upload it to Google but I get an error, telling me it is not in the correct format?? Should be either ASCII or UTF-8!!

Can anyone advise how to create .txt document in the right format, I thought I knew...:confused:

You can do it even in Notepad, just paste what you have, click save as, and under encoding choose UTF-8.

Did that exactly and Google told me that the file was in the wrong format....but then I sorted it - thanks anyways.
