AMAZON & ADSENSE EXPERTS - Outranking authority sites

I do amazon affiliate and i rank on some keywords, but i have always been afraid of competing for some keywords that has low onpage seo for top 10 rankings or i would say are not targeting the main keyword. But they have high links and are mostly authority sites, i dont even mean e-commerce sites but authority sites like, consumerreports, popularmechanics, consumersearch and so on.

Can you compete with keywords that has the above listed authority sites, but their onpage factors are not quite good or they are not really targeting the actual keyword?

please explain....

    Iv been making Amazon product review sites for a while and I do tend to come up against e-commerce sites which have a lot of authority like Amazon, Ebay and so on.

    Google give e-commerce sites a bit more of a push in the search results over normal websites and affiliate sites.

    From my experience you need to build Authority around your website to compete with these sites. Having a well optimized website is a must too but as we all know, getting high PR links is the best way to increase your rankings.

    Competing against sites with high authority will always be difficult but if you can optimize your website properly and add content on a consistent basis while building high PR links, you will soon move up the serps but it will take time, consistence and a big effort.
