Personal Blogs with Adsense

Hey,

Out of curiosity, do ANY of you actually have a personal BLOG that pertains to a specific niche? Perhaps it's fashion or lifestyle or diet or whatever that might be and actually monetizing through adsense AND doing ok to well with it?

I notice a lot of personal bloggers don't use adsense which is why I'm asking you. A lot use rewardsstyle for fashion bloggers, and those that are doing diet blogs are affiliates with something. But I want to know if anyone with a personal blog has generated a decent amount of income JUST from Adsense.

Thanks.

My Wife has my head melted. She keeps showing me the endless amount of girls setting themselves up as fashion, food and make up bloggers. A neighbor of ours has her own fairly successful blog in a similar area.

And she gave me some first hand insight into how fashion bloggers monetize. And why in Poland anyway, it's becoming an epidemic. She tells me that large fashion, makeup etc houses, are doing huge amounts of email outreach. To related industry bloggers and offering them gift incentives to blog about their products.

The send each one of them shitloads of crap like make-up, clothes, tickets to events etc.. All easy to write off in tax returns type stuff. And the bloggers are eating the idea up for breakfast. The House gives out 500 tickets to some House exhibition, and they then have an extra 500 reporters and and photographers show up to the event for free. These bloggers are running around like crazy thinking they're VIPs or something.

These bloggers want Access not Adsense.

Great example. This girl The Blonde Salad makes a minimum of $5,000 a month. She travels all over the world prolly gets free clothes / food / trips / hotels all the time.

Dissect her site and you'll see how she does well. Look at her IG, has more followers than a couple of ecommerce credible sites out there.

Bloggers who are using affiliate marketing on their own blog rather than Adsense are likely doing so as it has the potential to earn far more than a few dollars a day that a small time blogger might earn otherwise. Even a small time blogger can place Facebook ads to drive traffic to the blog posts and then capitalize when the readers buy products associated with the blog. The rewards far outrank anything Adsense can offer.

Every site I own has an adjunct blogspot blog. And yes, they
do quite well, adsense-wise. I even have one solo that is
      a personal thoughts blog.

The BIG bloggers are probably making money off of other
things, like endorsements, outside ads, and products like
      books and ebooks.

I've seen them have adsense as well.

I honestly have no idea what the difference between a blog and website is. If you have pages up on the internet, its a website. Even if its on Blogger...its still a website.

to answer the OPs question... yes, you can put adsense on any site that doesnt conflict with their TOS. That being said, if its just a glorified online journal then there's no real point because the ads wont be targeted.... might make a little bit of revenue from adsense using past searches of your users to determine ad placement, but most adsense ads come from contextual content... if your content isnt talking about a topic that has advertisers then your ads wont really make any sense and arent likely to get clicked on.

source: I run an authority blog/website/webpage/thing and use adsense to monetize.... niche site.

Yes blog and a website same thing. They're both websites. The difference is a matter of a BLOG being...well a personal BLOG. You have ecommerce sites, they're not blogs. You have service sites, that do NOT have a blog in them. What I'm asking is someone with a PERSONAL BLOG site. I should have clarified.

And you're not answering my question. I KNOW you can have adsense on ANY site. I've been doing online marketing for a long time. I just haven't touched adsense + PERSONAL blog.

I just want to know how others did with their personal blogs + adsense. That's all. Their own experience. Any thing that they accomplished, or what they failed or what they learned from during their journey with adsense + blogs. That's all. I'm not asking what is a blog. I'm not asking what is adsense. I want to know how others have done that is all.

unless the posts are targeting some sort of niche then your $/ click isnt going to be very high. CTR is probably going to blow too.

you're probably going to get mostly youtube/google ads mixed with ads pulled from visitor search history. They seem to be the default when google doesn't have anything contextually targeted to display.

I dont really know how a personal blog that's not targeting a niche gets any traffic anyway unless the owner is influential or something.

now if its a "personal blog" but is still within a niche that google has ads for... then yeah, it'll act just like any other niche authority site and earnings will depend on the niche and your traffic.

I only run one site and its pretty much just a niche/authority/"my ramblings about this niche" site... very personal, informal... I do "ok"....earnings depend on if what im writing about has a good cpc... I dont really optimize as well as I could.. I just take an hour to write a couple times a week about whatever I feel like writing about at the time (still within my niche) and let google decide what it wants to show... I have a few people buying ad space from me too so I dont obsess on the adsense aspect of it.

The biggest hurdle is that first initial traffic... but im sure you already know that.

I see you're not new...maybe im just not understanding the question since this all seems like pretty basic stuff that you probably already know.

EDIT: I just checked out that example you posted... thats not a personal blog... thats a fashion niche site...easily monetized with adsense and other direct ads and much easier to drive traffic to than some "you know what really grinds my gears??" personal online journal about random topics. The fact that she has like 2500 linking domains probably helps lol. If you notice though its all from fashion-niche pages. With that much juice going to her homepage she can probably rank anything she posts without much (any) effort. I bet shes killing it on tumblr and pinterest too.

There's a miscommunication going on here. Perhaps I'm not WORDING correctly. Yes, this is PRETTY basic stuff. But here's the difference..

          This is the warriorforum.

We have sites where we seriously distinguish what site is what. Going back to theblondesalad, okay she's too popular let's use a mediocre blogger. THIS is a personal BLOG Join The Gossip. I would assume that you should know this. Now you say everything is a website. Yes, EVERYTHING online is a website. But what distinguish what website is what? Warriorforum is a FORUM. A directory is a directory. Jointhegossip is a personal blog. The Warriorforum....People mostly have a website where they OFFER their service, OR they make a REVIEW site. Unless you want to call that their PERSONAL blog.

But let's go deeper because not a lot of people in the WF and I WOULD ASSMUE so, do NOT make personal blogs where they write night in night out post pictures of THEIR daily routine and not no jpeg picture from depositphotos or some sort but their own photos from their camera / phones...

I'm talking about a blogger who is talking about their personal life in who knows what, San Francisco California strolling down the street taking pictures of so many things perhaps traveling, or perhaps biking or perhaps eating out in all kinds of restaurants.

When I see an amazon review site I see a site that's simply trying to make bank by doing reviews. That's it. There's nothing PERSONAL especially if they do NOT have a product.

I don't know if that makes sense. Yes, I've been doing online marketing for a LONG time.

The really big bloggers don't need to use Adsense as they likely have a huge flow of advertising offers from a range of sources.

I think you can definitely find plenty of personal blogs with Adsense, although WF might be the wrong place to look.

I imagine most (not all) of people on here create websites to make money as the main priority whereas making money is the secondary priority for most non-IM type people with personal blogs.

Of course. But I did want to give it a shot since there are about 20,000 members online all at once a day on the WF.

And real quick, theblondesalad IS a personal blog. It's Chiara Ferragni. Trust me, I know. I work for a fashion company .We reach out to her ALL the time .Why? Like you said her following.

I'm giving fashion bloggers as an example since again, I'm an expert in this industry or I'd like to say so.

But let's stop here. I don't want to go back and forth with what is a personal blog. It's just going nowhere. I don't have time to debate and neither do you.

I just want people's experiences in the past. That's it. And you gave it thanks.

miscommunication on my end too, I think I understand what you mean now.

I think one of the main advantages of sites like these is that they can be really independent of google for traffic. The personal aspect of it helps build real "fans" instead of just "opt-ins". Its also really nice to not obsess over keywords and serp competition and just write for your audience like a real person.

Ive found that it's definitely a different beast as far as traffic building goes when you go a more personal route with a really big niche like your fashion blog exmaples. My biggest traffic success has been working with blog aggregator sites in my niche and basically being active everywhere as far as social media. It takes a while to get the ball rolling, but now I could could get de-indexed in every search engine tomorrow and it wouldnt make a huge difference to my traffic since like 90%+ is referral and subscriber traffic.

as far as monetization goes, I use 2 adsense blocks in my content and sell ad space on my sidebar. I just put up an "advertise with us" page with some copy, a contact form and a paypal button (the paypal button made a huge difference) and let them come to me. Its nice getting those unexpected paypal payments every once in a while and all you have to do is throw a banner up and send an invoice every 90 days. ive never had to approach anyone to sell ad space.

I used to use all 3 allowed adsense blocks...but one day a company contacted me out of the blue and asked me what id charge to replace the adsense skyscraper banner I was using in my sidebar with their banner. I came out good on that deal.

Im in the initial content building phase for another site just like this in another super broad niche...just writing about something I enjoy and can put a personal touch on. Hit me up if you want to bounce ideas. Sorry for the earlier confusion.
