I think I know what a backlink is but I want to make sure. What are good ways to produce backlinks?

Links pointing to your website.

Wow, there are hundreds, maybe thousands of ways to get backlinks.

Some of the best methods (in my opinion) are from:

Article Marketing (my #1 method)
Getting your content posted on other people's sites with a link back to yours (similar to article marketing but you are specifically placing content on relevant sites)
Social Bookmarking
Video Marketing

It's best to get backlinks from websites that are on the same topic as yours (for example, if your site is about home improvement, then links from other home improvement sites are best)

Thats what I thought. I am new... I am writing articles that link to a clickbank product or a squidoo page if I'm using ezine. Can you get backlinks to specific articles?

There are two 3 ways of building backlinks, Natural - when the users are satisfied from your site and post links to you. WhiteHat methods - when you build links with pressreleases, blog comments, pay per post. And BlackHat methods - SPAM.

You can hire someone from getafreelancer.com to build links for you. It is not expensive

  The links which are targeted to our web site are called back links. However, a no-follow link is not considered as back link.

Back links are those links which are refers to your website's link.If the back links are coming from the relevant and quality then you get the results for long term.So try to get the back links from the relevant sites.Article submission,blog commenting and forum posting are the best techniques for getting back links.

"Backlink" is a term that refers to links that point to a website or webpage from another website. This type of link also might be called an inlink or incoming link....
