Hi,
Have you used a service for recovering from google penalties ?
What is a reasonable amount to pay for lifting a penguin (and maybe panda) ban with a domain of 200 backlinks (from domains not individual links )
I am being quoted in the range of $450 but the market rate (and the quality ?) varies from $50 - $250
#disavow #pay

    Hi ATT,

First of all - Panda and Penguin are completely different animals.

While Panda requires you to check and fix your content (thin, duplicate, worthless) then Penguin is aiming your links.

First of all, I suggest you to figure out what kind of penalty does your site has. Maybe this "tool" will help you: Website Penalty Indicator - FE International

I haven't used disavow + removing links type of services, but it highly depends on your link profile. If you have tons of legit links + tons of spammy links then $450 does not do the trick for you. Some random folk is just trying to get your money and add as much as links to your disavow file.

If you want to use a real service - the price range can vary from $1000 to $5000 or even more....

Well, I've never heard such thing !! Paying for lifting penalty? I think someone is making fool of you there is no such term as pay in order to uplift penalty !!! In order to uplift the penalty you need to clean your backlink profile incase you've received penalty for unnatural links, Just login in to your google webmaster tool and download all the backlink check them one by one and look for the spammy links. Once you find out the spammy links try to take it down by contacting the owner of that page, and if you still can't take it down then use your Google webmaster tool to disavow those links. And if you can do that yourself PM me I'll do that for you. Don't just get dragged onto some rubbish thing as paying and getting out from the Google Penalty.

It's to check the link profile and clean it up (disavow) , there are only 200 links (from domains)
      ---
I've never tried this, so not too confident about using the disavow tool, especially after I read the warnings about the tool. Also some service providers say that the disavow does not fully fix the issue ?

but the average rate (for checking and disavowing backlinks ) on odesk, elance etc is around $250

Well @ATT trust me on this I have been in this for more than 5yr+ and as far as disavow tool is concerned just to let you know I have used it, Our website received a manual penalty from the Google stating we have found that there are some "Unnatural Links Pointing to your domain" , we have gone to the process of link removal and it has taken more than 8 months to recover from it we keep on downloading the backlinks from the webmaster tool keep on contacting and taking down those spammy link when we've sent for the reconsideration request for first time google rejects, second time we have gone through all the whole process again google rejects finally we put out almost all the effort and resources on it, and this time we got lucky and our manual penalty is been revoked by the Google. One more think revoking from the penalty doesn't mean that Google will start giving you bulk of organic traffic, you need to keep you work on and it will increase slowly and gradually.

      Excuse me,

Looking at your sig-line it says you're a "Senior SEO-Executive". Cleaning up client's backlink profile of unwanted links, disavowing, etc, is a standard part of the SEO profile that provides such a service. It's what I would do if someone asks, but I couldn't quote a price until I've looked at their situation first. Seems odd if you're this "S.S.E", you'd know that.

Also seems you're being a bit hypocritical. Why pick on a disavow service from a SEOer? Why not pick on optimizing social media platforms for clients?... PPC, competitor analysation, keyword research, SEO or link building? These are all just as legitimate services as disavow is for SEO.

Do it yourself, (cemper.com). That's the cheapest way, maybe $150. If you want a service, it could cost anything up to $10K or more.

Oh wow, I can't help but laugh at the price gouging for an ineffective "disavow" service.

Paying for a disavow submission, and especially at the price points provided is just wrong. Disavow has proven to be ineffective, just take a look at all of the threads on here and other forums talking about how they've submitted disavows till their eyes turn red without any effect.

There are quite a number of link removal services out there that do work, like linkdelete. They don't charge tens of thousand of dollars and actually remove the links instead of giving you some over-priced disavow file that doesn't do anything.

Personally I would avoid any disavow service such as link detox. They charge a really high amount for no real value.

Again your call. Some people will tell you to just ditch the site. I'd start with removing the links first and foremost.

The first step is to try to remove these backlinks yourself by sending a canned response to the webmaster hosting your toxic link.

If I understand you correctly these domains are coming from home-page links?

200 backlinks is a drop in the bucket to attempt to clean up. I've heard very rarely heard stories of SEOs successfully recovering after disavow. You also risk disavowing links that might not be toxic at all. Disavow =/= recovery.

A quote like that I'd say run for the hills.

If it is a complete cleanup service, meaning they are going to try to contact the webmasters of the sites where low quality links are located and have links removed, document their efforts, and then prepare a disavow file for the links they could not get removed, I would say the prices are fair. Personally, I would charge a lot more than that, but everyone values their time differently. Evaluating the links, finding contact methods for each webmaster of sites with offending links, and actually contacting them is all a very time consuming process.

If all they are doing is preparing a disavow file and nothing else, then you are grossly overpaying.
