SEO advice needed for my store

Lots of warrior users have been telling me that I need to work on my SEO for my online store so I am hoping to get some advice from you all.

I would like to know how exactly to add H1 tags, meta tags/description to my website. I am currently running Wordpress with the Bazar shop theme.

What route should I take to find out what keywords I should be using? Right now under general description in my settings I have a few keywords but they are very common and not very competitive. My clothing line is a lifestyle brand.

How exactly do I index my pages? Is there plugins you recommend me using to add meta tags and seo descriptions or should I be adding directly into the theme code??

CMFA Clothing is the website.

    Hi bsurb,

Yes, get the SEO Yoast plugin. It will add the sections you need to add meta data to your pages and products.

For keywords, review them in Google Adwords Keyword planner tool. Try to find long keyword terms with at least 3 terms or more. These will be more specific to the items you sell.

Since you sell yoga pants, look for keywords that have this term in there, but branch out and be more specific. You could try to look for "black yoga pants sizes 0 - 18" or similar. Try to be as specific as possible.

Look for keywords that target the lifestyle your customers have and use them in your clothing line. Yoga is a lifestyle and so is exercise or skateboarding, biking, etc. If your clothing line is geared for people who enjoy these hobbies, try to find keywords that use those words, but still apply the clothing. An example is: navy blue skateboard long shorts for guys

Your pages will automatically index... usually. Just make sure they are not blocked with noindex. You can also submit your sitemap to Google in Google Webmaster tools.

    Hi,

As complicated as some of the stuff seems, they are actually pretty easy. If you download the All-In-One SEO plugin for Wordpress you can easily add the <title>, <description> and <keywords>.

Once your logged into your Wordpress backend, then just go over to the product page or store page and scroll towards the bottom to find the SEO inputs that you can add. However, make sure to do some keyword research so your adding the right keywords which will give you some results in the rankings. Focus on low competitive, with search volume or even long tail keywords.

If you send me the keywords, I have a quick look and send back better ones or give you an update on the ones you have to help you out.

Next, if you are a local store lets say "clothing store toronto" (use this as a keyword)

The reason, its much more focused and easier to rank for in the long run.

Anyway, send me the keywords and your store URL and I'll help you out.

Since you configured the all in one seo plugin for me, doesn't the yoast plugin need to be deactivated?

    Hi,

I configured the Yoast Plugin for you. As mentioned they are both good and I have experience with both but kept All-In-One just for the heck of it. Anyway, I configured Yoast to save on uninstall and reinstall...etc

If you go to your home page and "view source" and type "google-site" you'll see that All-In-One placed it on your homepage.

I tried to do a screenshot but it wont let me...however here is a quick copy and paste...

Head over to Google Webmaster Tools and add your website...then verify it and click on manage site once added.

On the left you'll see crawl and then sitemaps.

Make sure that your sitemap has been generated and added to your root folder via FTP. You can check my going to http://cmfaclothing.com/sitemap.xml.

By the looks of it...it has not been generated so be sure to create one through Wordpress.

Download a Sitemap.xml plugin and it'll do the rest. I have to left the office now but if you wait I can do it for you tomorrow. Just message me during the day and I'll take care of the rest. Please send me your GWT login also so I can add it for you.

I did this: but it still says processing.

    1. On your Webmaster Tools home page, select your site.
    2. In the left sidebar, click Site configuration and then Sitemaps.
    3. Click the Add/Test Sitemap button in the top right.
    4. Enter /system/feeds/sitemap into the text box that appears.
    5. Click Submit Sitemap.

It seems as though you don't have one located in your root folder. If you had one it would come up at: http://cmfaclothing.com/sitemap.xml

It GWT won't generate one if you don't have one in your root folder. You need to install a plugin and generate one before submitting it to Google.

I'll do it for you tomorrow if you will wait...just message me. It's late here and I have to head home.

I haven't read this whole thread but you need to remove all 25 <h2> tags from the Share on: text (on the Home page).

All those <h2> tags serve no purpose, they're junking up your real keywords. If you need the text to be larger use CSS to change the font size.

That theme needs a lot of little on-page things cleaned up.

    Hi,

Once the sitemap.xml is reachable which when I check it is, its time for you to upload it to your GWT. Then they can take over by updating it. Please send me your login and I'll have a quick look.

    Thanks,

    Hi,

I received your "private" message and have deleted the old version of the sitemap and added the new one. The sitemap has now been indexed and GWT has picked up the sitemap.xml. The site is ready to go!

    Next,

In order for you to increase your store speed there are a few things that you could now. I am putting together a guide which will show you but it won't be ready for the next few days. In the meantime just site tight because your site I checked and its faster then 46% of other sites. The time of day does effect site time and you do need to make some changes which we'll do in a few days. I'll send over the guide when I am done.

Here is a screen shot of your website speed test...

Yeah Im going to see if someone can help me with the H1 tags and all that. What kind of forum comments are you talking about?

Get the website done from a professional,it will help you in getting correct H1 Tag,Meta Tag and Description.Your clothing line is unique and you should have any problem in ranking.Do forum and blog comments to boost your keywords through SEO.
I don't know why people are telling a professional to get involved when you could be saving money learning this stuff online. Its NOT that difficult and he does NOT have to hire anyone. I'm sick and tired of people trying to push people towards spending money to get work done which would otherwise take 1-2 minutes of your time. First <h1> if as simple as surrounding your product name in bold or whatever. <H1> is more commonly used if someone is writing a blog post and needs to highlight the different sections.

It's very simple and will NOT affect your SEO. For example, I have many posts that are ranking and I added NO <h1> tages at all. Make sure you atleast do the following:

    Keyword in URL
    Keyword in Title
    Keyword Description

and usually content but you have a clothing store so maybe a little difficult at this point. I setup the All-In-One for you so its adding the title, URL and description.

Anyone who tells you you have to pay for SEO is just throwing stuff out there. Listen, its easy stuff just read over a few articles and your ready to go. I'm trying to get a guide ready for this too. Just focus on building your store and let me get the speed and meta guides to you when done. I'm NOT selling anything and they are FREE because I got caught in the circle of deception when I started and wanted people to be honest with me instead of making money.

I don't do this to people because I don't want it done to me.

That's just plain wrong. H1 tag is one of the most important factors that you can and should actually edit on your page. And it should be pretty easy to do: all the product pages, for example, seem to have proper h1s already. Usually themes use the page/article title without any issue.

H1 should not be used to "highlight the different sections", and it's definitely not "bold or whatever". It's one main title per article, and other titles in h2/h3. This should be covered in any beginners SEO tutorial.

If you're talking about useless - well, the meta keywords (mentioned in this thread) are really useless. You shouldn't spend your time with those.

That's not true. Some people are asking money for simple stuff that's mostly covered by your theme or content management system. Basic on-page SEO is quite simple, although major companies still get it wrong all the time. But there's much more to SEO than this superficial stuff you're talking about.

First of all, do proper on page optimization for your store's website. Then come to off page optimization SEO techniques, use some techniques like forum posts, blog commenting, social bookmarking, image backlinking, post your store related contents to social networking sites. These techniques are good to make your website popular.

This plugin can help you with your site's on page optimization:

Once your site is fully optimized, focus on building high quality backlinks to your site, and it will begin ranking in the SERPs.

There's no "best", but there's probably something that works for you. Do you have an audience in the Facebook? Or would you be prepared to pay for their promoted posts? Other social media sites?

You could also offer quality posts to good sites that are in the same niche. That way you'd get backlinks.

I tried promoting a post on my Facebook page. It showed thousands of people reached it in short period of time. Is that legit? Or are you paying for just numbers?

My Facebook activity isn't the best.

But I have content being published on my blog daily. What do you mean by offering quality posts to similar sites?

Irrelevant forum sigs are weak spam when it comes to SEO, this forum is also nofollow. I also doubt the majority of Warrior Forum traffic cares considering your sig has nothing to do with SEO or IM.

You need to research how backlinks work. Your posting nofollow sig links which might as well not exist as far as ranking pages.
