Hi All,

has anyone had experience with ranking in countries such as Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

Is it easier to rank a .(countryprefix) domain in these countries as oppose to somewhere like the UK?

for example (this is not my domain

to rank affiliatemarketer (dot) co.uk might take X effort to rank as #1 for KW affiliate marketer in the UK whereas to rank the same keyword in Italy with a .it prefix takes Y effort.

Is one easier than the other, or is it case by case based on competition?

thanks

I think, it is based on competition among country specific websites. Country specific language may be another reason. Some webmasters make websites in their local language. If we use keywords in English language means other language websites are not in competition.

It depends on traffic. But it should be lot easier for Italy then UK for sure. There are so many scope of link building for all European countries. I have worked on so many client websites of those countries and I had lot of fun because I don't know the languages of those countries. Still I have managed to do considerable.
