Hello,

I have a potential customer that I contacted today. They have a ripoff report from a disgruntle former customer that has reached the first page and is hurting their business. They said if I can push it off the first page then they would be interested in talking.

The ripoff report is in the 4th organic listing. The PR for the 3 organic lists on top are 5, 5 and 4. The ripoff report has a PR of 0. Is it possible to push to report off the first page?

Has any dealt with anything like this before? If so, what did you do? This was definitely an interesting request.

Here is what my SEO tool told me

I have market samurai and here is what it told me...
The review site is number 4 on the list

Yes, it can be done, but it's going to take some time since Rip Off Report has quite a few links pointing to it. Use a tool like steprep.com to find other positive mentions of the client, preferably ones with a high pagerank and lots of links, and start pointing links to those mentions. If the client has any microsites that aren't ranking, you can also optimize those and start pointing links to them, and also point links to the positive mentions that rank below Rip Off Report. Also create profiles on high PR sites like LinkedIn, Squidoo, etc., optimizing those pages with the clients name/keyword, and take the opportunity to point links from those sites to positive mentions elsewhere. Angela's backlinks can help positive mentions rank higher, as can basic linkbuilding, article marketing, etc. I've also started PPC campaigns for past clients so that some of the attention from potential customers is drawn directly to the ad instead of negative mentions in the organic rankings. If the client is willing to pay for your service, they'll probably be open to ppc. Other considerations to think about are the age of the ROR mention - if it was recent, you should probably wait awhile before starting an online reputation management campaign, otherwise the upset customer may start up their campaign again.

    Hi,

Yes, it is possible to push it down the SERP and bury it deeper down the SERP. It takes a while though. When I handled a ripoff report, it took me more than four months to do so.

What you can do is optimize positive posts showing in the SERP or create an optimized blog. DO NOT even think about posting a rebuttal on the ROR post. It will only make that page stickier. If you should ever post a rebuttal, post it in other websites. Try to set-up profile accounts too like facebook or twitter. Social Networking sites are search engine favorites and are ranked high by Google.

Hope this tiny information helps you. =)
