Launching website in countries where Google isn't monopoly

Hey

I've just started a website. Because it is new and doesn't have a lot of content, despite my best SEO effots, it doesn't appear in Google SERPs.

I barely receive any hits to the website because of this. Google has such a massive market share in some counties with over 90% of search queries, I'm finding it impossible to get the word out about my site.

I'm thinking of trying to customize my content in my website for countries which Google doesn't have a search monopoly, so I can get listed in some other search engines and directories. Is this a good tactic? Has anyone had any success trying to launch in countries where Google isn't no.1?

Simple. Name a country where Google is not the dominant search engine and that has people who will buy what you are selling. If you can't name one, then it is a waste of time.

Imagine a super busy highway with all the major food chains lined up in a row - McDonalds, Burger King, Denny's, etc. You want to set up your new little cafe' there alongside of them, but are afraid because it's such a busy highway, that people will go to McDonalds or any of the others instead of your place. So instead, you decide to set up shop on a deserted highway with no other businesses there to compete with you. Unfortunately, being a deserted highway, there will be no traffic either. So, try to compete on a busy road and risk failure, or don't compete at all and have no customers. Up to you.

Russia for example. Google is #2 search service in this country.
