really weird google result..can someone explain

So i have a wordpress site with a post that i wanted to rank, it was the latest one i wrote so it was on homepage. I pointed some really high PR links to the post perma link (which is exact keyword) and it ranked alright but this is the weird thing.

The homepage ranks #11 and a tag at #12. You know how wordpress has tags and you can access example.com/tag/tag-name .. that is what ranks. The goddamn post doesn't rank at all for its permalink DESPITE the fact that i haven't pointed a single link to the homepage in the entirety of this site existence (its a test site) or to any of the tags.

It is cool to see my site being twice in the serp but the fact it is ranking homepage and a tag isn't helping with click throughs as the domain name doesn't have anything to do with the keyword, the tag does but somehow that is generating very few clicks probably because the tag has some parts of keyword but not all.

Anyone got any idea why this happened ? I wrote a lot of posts to push that post down from main page but google still wants to rank for the tag now instead of the post permalink. Heck, i stopped pointing all the links and it still ranks lol
