SEO - Two questions

I have two questions regarding SEO:

(i) Are giving meta keywords still important for SEO;

(ii) Should the keywords phrases be given bold in the posts from SEO point of view.

    i) No, you can ignore meta keyword.

    ii) Yes, its good. It's a on page factor, also use H1 tag in content.

      Good answers, just to say that H1 tag should be used NO MORE than 1 time per 300 words (maximum 3 times per page!) for max results according to my experience. Also another good idea is to use CSS to make them look JUST BOLD, but with the same SIZE! Also, don't forget that you can mix it with a few H2 tags too (which should be again under CSS control!)

      Don't forget to make BOLD ONLY this (or those!) H1 tag/s. Make H2 normal style. This is BOTH important for people (as if they see so many bold words, they could become confuse WHICH sentences are important!

        Well.. actually...

        Use the H1 tag ONE TIME ONLY per page.

        Use h2-h4 to structure your text after that.

    Google read everything on a page so if you have your related keywords in your meta keywords it will help. You cannot use your primary keyword more than once or maybe twice on your entire page. You need to use related LSI type keywords.

    Yes making keywords bold helps. But you cannot just go in and place your keywords a million times on a page that will not help you rank. Now a days less is more. Remember your primary keyword only need to be on the page once then next place other related LSI keywords in your post this way you can rank for those two.

    Placing your keyword in your Title tag or H1 tag will get Google know what your page is about

      1) The meta keywords tag is not used as a ranking factor by google and has been confirmed by Matt Cutts. What the meta keywords tag does now, is give your competitors an insight into the keywords that you are looking to target.

      Other search engines may still use this tag as a ranking factor and I believe it was Duane Forrester of Bing that confirmed that they did quite recently along with 1000 other factors.

      In my opinion I wouldn't get too hung up on it and would probably not include it for the sakes of making it harder for competitors to research your target keywords.

      2) Bolding your keywords in posts is something that I do still do, as I believe it does have some effect, but again this should be used in moderation and done to improve the readers experience rather than done specifically for the search engine spiders.

    In google eye meta keyword tag not important but other search engine preffered.
    Yes we can use keyword as blod for good ranking.

    It is not mandatory to include meta keywords, but then including them does not affect much.
    You can bold the keyword as it would be highlighted as important to the visitors of the site and would also bring in good rankings.

    Personally, I don't let anyone at our company bold keywords. Sure, use bold sparingly through your posts and so forth but only if it enhances the user experience in some way. Any possible ranking improvement (which I think is just a placebo effect, personally) would be negligible anyway.

    User first, search engines second.

    Meta keywords doesn’t matter to Google but it does to others search engines. You can see the difference in SERP’s due to keywords Meta tag.

    You should Bold words/keywords in both ways. Bold keywords help in SEO & if you bold sales pitch, that will help to attract leads.

    Meta keywords are useless if you are doing optimization of your site for Google..
    Bold words in a post make the search engine robots to give more value to those words..Bold words may make your site's content look odd..but from SEO point of view, it will help you..

    I think Google gave up on meta keywords five (5!) years ago, and people still go on about that. Well, at least you can instantly spot who knows something about SEO. Sort of a litmus test.

    It's a different play if you're targeting Russia or China. Яндекс and Baidu both use meta keywords as far as I know. But on this forum were mostly talking about "western" search engines.

    Also, you should use only one H1 tag per page. Otherwise you're potentially confusing a spider that's trying to parse your document. If you can't come up with just one title it's time to reorganize the page you're looking at. Perhaps split it in two. H2 is suitable for other keywords.

    It doesn't matter if your H1/H2 doesn't really look like title, but you shouldn't try to fool your readers or Google. Or just stuff keywords in an unnatural way.

    I have two answers for you:

    With the meta tags refer to the video posted about... Straight from the horses mouth so to speak.

    With the bold keywords in posts, I personally don't do it because it's one of those "SEO Rules" that everyone used to do back in 2011 and so that is the exact reason why I would want to avoid it.

    If you want to bold a keyword here and there then why not (I'm talking maybe once in every 15-20 post for example) but I would suggest not making a habit of bolding your main keyword in every post you write.

    It shouts to Google... "Hey, look at me trying to SEO for this keyword!!"

    Meta keywords are still important.
    Yes making keyword bold is right. But don’t repeat keywords so many times in a post. Highlighting keywords and phrases with bold and italic fonts also helps, since search engines crawl your post for the most important text.

    1. Meta description tags, while not important to search engine rankings, are extremely important in gaining user click-through from search engine result pages (SERPs). These short paragraphs are webmasters opportunity to advertise content to searchers and let them know exactly what the given page has with regard to what they’re looking for.
    2. When you bold, italicize or underline a word, Google assumes that this is one of your keywords. You should therefore bold, italicize or underline some of the keywords on your page.

    Be very careful, because this can also work against you: if you use bold, italics or underlining on words that are not keywords, you will confuse Google and will weaken the effect of these tags on your real keywords.
    Use Moonsearch.com that provides data on website' backlinks, their whois information, and the PageRank, Alexa Rank, dmoz/Yahoo listings.
