Make a lot of friends on those sites, and get the message to them that you need your story dugg and stumbled. Tell them I'll digg yours if you digg mine kinda thing. Used to work for me when I was concerned with Digg.

Digg also used to have a "shout" feature that allowed you to tell all on your friends list about your digg, but I recently read that they tanked that because it was too spammy.

Honestly I have yet to see any good conversions from this sort of traffic.

I stopped bothering with digg/stumble et al a long time ago. The traffic that shows up can be quite spectacular at times if you hit it right, but none of it converts in $. No good if you want to make a living online.

I found its much better to spend all that time going after SERPs traffic which is targeted and does convert, sometimes very well indeed.

I second that notion, I've used it the traffic doesn't convert at all, its really good to get your site or blog post indexed quickly if you can escape the "bury brigade" Digg members who target other member's stories to be buried. (Seem like some people have too much time on their hands.

There was a thread here a while ago that mentioned finding old threads with a certain number of comments and make a comment yourself with your url.

I've been using that method myself recently. Not sure how useful it os.

stumbleupon traffic is usually untargeted but digg can be great for backlinks (submitting stores).

I haven't had the best of luck with digg or stumble but because it doesn't take a lot of time or effort to submit I always put my articles on.

Digg and Stumble upon traffic seems pretty useless.

However, Digg is good for getting your site indexed quickly.

Well, I used to get more diggs for my submissions, that helps me in words of SERP, but I do not get traffic directly from digg.com, however, Google really loves it and give more point to my site as I hve about 100+ diggs over there....

Just had a nice review posted for one of my sites yesterday (stumble) and received loads of traffic in an hour and a half, but no conversions (although 10% clicked through to the offer). Good that the traffic was free

I am in favour of stumbleupon more thn digg as stumble provide more traffic to my blogs. It's maybe because i have got enough friends and they even give reviews at my stumbles so i get 10-50 visits daily from stumble easily.
Digg is also good but stumble is doing great for me so far
You can try both at the same time and just track your traffic so that you know which one is doing better for you
    Thanks
