Which technique(s) do you use to create back links? Please don't give here list of the techniques, but mention that only which you are using.

PBN blog posts are excellent backlinks for niche sites and they are what I use to rank my sites. They provide the ranking power and I also throw in some other types of links for diversity. Web 2.0 backlinks supercharged by a 2nd or 2nd/3rd tier are the next best backlinks I'd advise you to build for niche sites or churn and burn sites.

If you don't know what you are doing, never use a PBN.

Care to explain? PBN's are the safest links you can build. You might waste a little money not utilizing them properly, but they are a million times safer than any automated spam shit.

          Ill be happy to clarify.
The only time I really suggest using a PBN is when you manage the pbn yourself. Other PBN services are a bit sketchy because you have no idea if the owner actually knows what he is doing.

Do any of you guys actually know what link building is?

It's almost as if PBN and spam are the only methods available.

Guess what people did before SEO existed, they linked to sites that they liked or had content that their readers would be interested.

This is the "safe" way to build links and it's called outreach.

Copied from another post I made a while back (because I can't be bothered typing it again).......

To build backlinks now (taking away the PBN option):
Do some research into your target market, who are they? What sites are they visiting now?
Create something of value to them that doesn't already exist on the sites they visit, this is your asset
Approach the sites they visit via email, phone or even snail mail if you have to
Tell them about your asset and that it might interest their viewers
Ask them to link to it

Then repeat the process for other areas that might be of interest to your target market, are there any transferable traffic options? For example a guy who is interested in books, will also be interested in ebooks, ebook readers, pdf's and other forms of material that he can read if it is sold to him in the right way by someone he trusts.

This is how you link build, this is how link building has worked since 1998 and it's still the same, things just get added and taken away here and there.

FYI read my blog post below, it tells you how to do this in a less targeted but still "safe" way.

But keep in mind that what I have said above is a form of link building that will always be effective until link building as an activity becomes ineffective.

Do it for the benefit of the person who will click your link and you won't go wrong.

Back up this with a few PBN links and you'll pretty much rank anything with the exception of gambling, porn and personal loans site. If you wanna rank for them then you better start to learn how to write Linux linking scripts and other super shady activities.

Good advice - I think the issue people have with outreach is time - and the reason time is an issue is that they are not committed to the long term to their site - we have clients who have multiple brands and simply want the sites as visible as possible for as long as possible - it means we can use agressive linkbuilding but if you have a site that you need for the long term - lesser but higher value links, outreach as desciribed above or better still owning the links that point at your site is the way to go.

I do not count my backlinks anymore and it does not matter as long as I create a one of a kind content that can become a viral information over time.

I do build backlinks but that is just secondary. I am more focused at creating high quality content and distribute these online.

Of course, the sites I only linked are all related, high PR sites. I mainly do guest posting and paid press release then also a bit of building web 2.0 sites and PBN.

Yahoo answer links are no-follow. So links from Yahoo Answer won't help you to get ranking. They can only help you to get traffic.

I think the warriors have not shared effective link-building techniques here. There must be many more techniques.

I am not talking here of paid techniques. I am asking for the techniques that the blogger himself/herself can do.

      Here is what I do.

Commenting on other blogs where they have comment luv. Have a mix of nofollow links and dofollow link and make sure it is related to your niche in some way. Also, actually read the posts and make insightful comments. The key is to actually care and make relationships. The backlinks are just added benefit. You can check dofollow by using firefox and the free addon search status.

Hammer away at social media. They aren't dofollow links usually but social signals are very important nowadays. I use facebook, twitter, google plus, and just started pinterest. Grow your followers, interact with them, share their content, create real relationships over time and eventually they will hopefully share your stuff over time.

Guest post on other blogs, preferably ones that have a higher PR than you and get some dofollow links from them.

If applicable, comment on forums that are related to your niche and get backlinks through your signature. Check if they are dofollow.

Submit to directories. I sometimes do Stumble Upon and I do reddit.

Do not just spam your own stuff for directories and social media. Create relationships and share other peoples' stories. On reddit try to have at least a 5 to 1 ratio of sharing other content and your own content. Share other peoples' content on twitter and interact with them. On pinterest, create boards related to your niche. Pin interesting stuff from other people. Interact with others. Like their pins, comment on it and such. Then sprinkle in your own stuff.

The key is to be authentic and interact with others and care about what they do also. Being selfish and spammy won't help you in the long run and probably won't make you happy. Creating authentic relationships is key. I only am near 100% spammy on my facebook fan page for my website and google plus, but that is because I don't use those outlets too often.

      Hope this helps.

Currently using Paid Guest Blog posts from really good blogs. Since I'm only picking up a few here and there from related sites, it's not as suspicious as getting backlinks from 1000's of unrelated sites which always raises a red flag with Google.

I send PDFs out to document sites like docstoc and slide share.

Getting killer rankings with it for me and my clients.

Started doing it by hand an-till I got it semi auto with software.

The key is testing and tracking 100%

PBN's are great but high pagerank homepage links are better.

PBN's often get their PR killed faster and you don't retain the real link juice as your post gets pushed into the archives.

Get a link on the homepage and that's another story rankings will be stable and last for a long time.

I've always had the best results if I was dealing with some friends who also had websites in a similar niche. one thing we would do is I would post a few of their sites if they would host a few of mine and that would get you extra class C addresses... then you can create links out of your own network it's not really that hard to do

Question on link building. If I have a Facebook page on page two for one of my keywords, Can I get a lot of links to it to help boost it? Like using someone to use GSA or something like that with a blast of links? or will this get me in trouble with Google after a bit?

If so what would work good for this to bump it up as far as backlinking?

Google made very hard to do intentional SEO... besides PBN and web 2.0 properties, there is very little space for something to be done.

You can only make an A++ content... but let's be honest very little people can do that, and if You want to buy that kind of content, then You'll be paying $6+ per 100 words!

I would say that by far those 2 are the best answers:

PBN blog posts are excellent backlinks for niche sites and they are what I use to rank my sites. They provide the ranking power and I also throw in some other types of links for diversity. Web 2.0 backlinks supercharged by a 2nd or 2nd/3rd tier are the next best backlinks I'd advise you to build for niche sites or churn and burn sites.

Advice: Make your experiments against web 2.0 sites first (youtube videos for example),
to minimize risks. Then (when you get results), try with your own sites.
