Hi I notice that my mobile phone automatically list businesses that are in the area that I am in.

As far as SEO goes how can you still rank in those local areas - Is Adwords the best way to go?

    Hey,

    I would say that if you have a full understanding of Adwords, then yes that would be a great route to take. However, those businesses listed are probably updated with SEO of their sites, along with mobile pages and social media profiles.

    Nowadays, I believe about 90% of customers are using smart phones, so any business would be behind if they did not have social media or mobile pages set up and optimized for specific search terms.

    If you rank high for desktop search, you will rank high for mobile search. Most companies nowadays don't create separate mobile sites because phones now come with lots of computer-like features and capabilities.

    All they do now is create responsive versions of their websites which share the same URL with the full non-responsive versions, so you probably don't need a separate mobile site.

    Follow SEO best practices for on-page and off-page optimization and get local citations.
