You can perhaps ask Google to ignore them, rather than trying to get them all removed? Matt Cutts: Use the Link Disavow Tool Even if Your Site Hasn't Been Penalized - SEW

If these links are made by yourself during your link building process then you can manually remove them by logging on that website and delete the links. But it takes lot of time to delete all that back-link.
You can use Google’s Disavow tool to make those link no-follow. Go to above link to get more information about disavow tool.

I guess the spammy backlinks were generated with automated link building tools like GSA and Scrapebox. If they are web 2.0 links you can easily remove them using their login details but other links like blog comments are impossible to remove.

Remove what you can and disavow the rest or start over with a new domain if your domain is less than 2 months old. Yes, you'll lose some months of work, but you get to start with a clean slate.

Disavow doesn't remove your links, no matter how hard you wish or pray to Matt Cutts it won't happen. As Matt himself has told everyone many times, try your hardest to remove the links.

I suggest a link removal service like Google Penalty Recovery & Backlink Removal Service - LinkDelete.com to do it for you as the pricing is pretty cheap for this kind of service.

You can try and do it yourself too but its very time consuming to do it.

Ignore them, and start building better links. And spread the word about idiotic
      link building.

If people set out to build an authority site, mimic the big boys, they would not
be in this trouble. Stop the insanity now.

Speaking of Matt Cutts, he recently said nothing beats hard work as far as
link building goes. That is, hard work at finding good links.

Why do so many people keep telling people the same old crap: Start over.

I have never started over. I never will start over. I don't plan on doing anything that
would make me have the need to start over. My gosh I've been saying that same
thing for years here....do this $%^$#+@$#%* right the first time people.

I'd recommend you to use the Google Webmaster Disavow tool, it works (My Personal Experience with it)

Disaovw tool doesn't remove links and doesn't work. Its only to help Google find unnatural link sources. Don't use disavow to remove links.

Contact the webmasters hosting the links and ask that they remove them otherwise you'll have to disavow their site which is a bad signal to google, wait 2 weeks after you've sent the request, then disavow all the sites that haven't removed your links, keep a google spreadsheet of all work done, then forward to google when filing a reconsideration request, if you show detail in cleaning up your link profile, you'll get let off the hook...

Anyone planning on the disavow to work is sorely mistaken.

In order to remove backlinks you need to actually have them removed. Not provide them to Googles disavow tool

Easiest way would be to use Google webmaster tools, look up all of the links that are linking to you and use their disavow tool to disavow any bad links. It takes time but seems to work.

I agree with your statement by using disavow webmaster tool one can remove the bad links, tyhey first find out all the unnatural links then after some times it removes the links.

To remove bad links, the first option is use Disavow tool to remove their affect but in many cases Disavow tool does not work. So I also recommend you to remove most of the bad links manually which you can remove.

    Thanks

Well, I would say first try contacting the owner of the site by dropping an email telling then that is it possible for them to take down those spammy links because it violates the Google guidelines and if still the links are not takes down use the Disavow tool available over the Google Webmaster tool to disavow the link.

There is no work around to removing links than to actually remove them as I mentioned above.

I'm not sure why people are telling the original poster to use the disavow tool when he's asking how to remove them.
