Strange google behavior

When I search for my term on google, my article comes up as number 1, but when my friend who lives a mile or 2 away from me searches for the exact same search term, he gets all of the same results, except for my actual article.

Does anybody know why google would behave this way?

I haven't promoted my article using the google feature, so I have no idea why this would happen.

Are you sure both of them are searching using the same Google domain extension?

Because I use Google.COM for searching while my friend uses Google.CO.IN, which is default option for Indian searchers.

Havefun, it does sound like Personalised search. If not that, then you might be on different Data Centres.
