The simple fact is that landing pages focus on one thing and that’s converting visitors into leads.
With a single focus on converting visitors into leads, landing pages are all about positive ROI(return on investment). Every time I talk to a company and see their conversions are low, I always see how they’re trying to convert the traffic. Usually, landing pages make all the difference.
things you should keep in your mind while making a landing page are:

Use as much text as it takes to adequately convey the purpose and goal of your landing page.
Try not to be any more wordy than is absolutely necessary to avoid losing your reader before they arrive.
    Use powerful words and phrases.
Avoid making the reader have to scroll down too far—or too many times—to reach the end of the page.
Keep your text size and spacing consistent, and use the same font (or at least, the same font family) throughout.
    Be clear and concise.
    Get to the point.

It has to capture the attention of the site visitor, so an eye catching design and stimulating content.

if it seems generic in any way, it is a dead duck.

  • 1st Phase
    • Keep it simple
    • Not too much text
    • The text you do have on the page, make it count
    • Needs to look professional, well designed. Paying customers expect a certain level of quality in paid products, your landing page should show this.
    • Let them know they aren't going to be spammed and sold crap by submitting details.

    2nd Phase

Once you have the design, create another variation, if you arent split testing you are wasting potential higher conversion ratios

Once you have those covered do a small 1 day campaign with paid traffic, facebooks ads for example and see how users react to your page variations.

    Constantly track, test and tweak

A landing page is that page of your website where a visitor would first enter, previous to going to the other pages on the site. The first thing to remember is that, each visitor is a possible customer. Except you give him what he needs, there is no cause for him to stay. So the major plan of the landing page should be to convert a visitor to a customer.

Personally, I always make sure I add an exit script to my landing pages so that I can capture exiting traffic!

I agreed to everybody in this thread. Landing Page is the first page on which any visitor lands firstly, so while creating a landing page you should take care of the following things:
    - Landing page should be attractive(in terms of design)
    - Title should be very strong and compelling
    - There should be more Call to action
    - There should be proper interlinking to others pages
    - It should be concise and clear
    - If possible add some testimonials
    - The main thing, it should have some offer like free trial etc.
Simply follow these things hope this will give you some positive results.
