Hi guys,

So, I've only heard of PBN recently, and may try it out in the future.

My question though is would it be possible to use the PBN method with say, a twitter/facebook/ profile instead of a blog?

Make like 10 different accounts, and then use the same concept? That way you can fill out the profiles with your website, tweet naturally from each one, interesting things, and occasionally post your link up. And then retweet and favorite each accounts posts. You could even acquire aged twitter accounts with high PR much like you do with domains on flippa.

Just a thought, seeing if the same principles would even apply to social networks....

Would this work at all?

No that would not work. The point of a PBN is to funnel trust to your money site I dont see how your idea would accomplish that.

Twitter links are nofollow and thus won't pass the link juice.

Therefore you won't achieve what you are trying to do.

The whole concept behind a PBN is that each site in a PBN is authoritative (good PR/CF/TF) linking out to your money site will increase its rankings and authority as well same as getting links from an authoritative site in your niche but owned by you.

How do you plan to accomplish that with fb/twitter ? Google doesn't even index all of your tweets and only some of them, add to that the links are no-follow. Your will have to build the authority of the tweet/facebook post itself to pass link juice and add to the fact that despite all the authority social doesn't rank anything.

You can try google pluses as the links there are do-follow (you can't control the anchor text for them) and even then its just a blind hope because i haven't seen a single google plus status being ranked.

The beauty of a PBN is that sites in the network itself rank and that creates a slingshot effect to your money site pushing it to top positions while the site themselves being in top 10 pages (or 100 depending on your PBN quality).

So eh, i wouldn't waste my money or time on that.

PS: Actually there's an exception to this and i don't know if anyone else has noticed this but Youtube pulls the site linked in description to top results. This probably has to do with me building links to youtube video itself and i have an authoritative channel but this is very interesting thing i have noticed. Not by much but it does help somewhat and it is also somewhat easier to rank youtube videos thereby dominating the SERPS with one of your properties. I don't think it ranks your site though but should be part of your seo efforts.

      I noticed this myself.

I created a post and a video about a topic. The only link I built to the page was in the video description. Then I backlinked the crap out of the video, the page ending up ranking on the first page of the SERPS while the video continues to make its climb up through YouTube and Google Video search results.

I am going to try it again with another video and see if its a fluke or duplicatable.

Thanks for all the replies guys. The YouTube concept seems like something to maybe try on the side. But i'll focus on the more traditional method of PBN building and see how everything evolves from there.

Youtube is a very strong/respected authority site. At least that's how Google sees it. So any link leading off Youtube is likely to be indexed and taken more seriously than one leading off of a low-rent blogger style blog to a money site. You can't go wrong when linking back from Google properties.
