    As long as you build quality and natural links, you are safe. Don't link with any unnatural and irrelevant sites or don't get into sort of paid links.

    There is no fixed number of backlinks you can create per day. Just be sure to focus on relevant and quality backlinks and make sure they are contextual links. All your backlinks don't have to be contextual, but most natural and quality backlinks are contextually placed.

    I normally create 1 or 2 backlinks per day. Some bloggers who own PBNs have stated in their blogs that they only build 1 backlink every few days. The pace at which you build links matters a lot, but as long as you are building quality links and you aren't building tons of links per day, your site should be pretty safe from algo updates.

    How long is a piece of string? I've seen people say that you should focus on GOOD links, and that means one or two links a month. Are you just setting up something quickly and don't mind how long it lasts, or are you trying to build an authority or similar site?

      Focusing on good links does not mean one or two links a month.

    The quantity of the back link does not matter as does the quality of the back links. If you can get a few back links from strong websites, then it will be very effective.

    There are no exact figure but focus on quality and relevancy. If you have less but quality back link, you get rank well in SE.

    Depends on your goal. If you're trying to get removed from their index, the answer would be, "As many as you can—by any means."

    If you're trying to rank long-term, the answer is, "As many as is natural."

    On the whole, you get what you pay for.

    The issue to be concerned with is not the quantity but the quality. The quality links do give more of a bang than your usual manual link building methods, however from a link building perspective, there are 2 major issues;

    1- Quality links, that are editorially given are much harder to come by than a few hundred directory listings.

    2- The quality links you manage to get are probably not going to be anchored with the keyword you're chasing, therefore your ranking ability is hindered.

    In my experience a site with 1000 'low' quality links anchored with the target phrase, will always beat a site with 50 high quality links anchored with the name of the site or other random terms.

    I think the perfect combo is to target low quality links manually and then focus on creating quality content for the higher quality, more editorial type links
