Ideas to get backlinks for niches ?

Anyone have some tips that can help get backlinks for niches?

For example let's say you sell electric car wheels in the U.S. maybe an idea could be to try to have some articles in an online car news website. It seems like getting articles in informational/authority sites might be a good plan. Even if article marketing isn't a great idea it's something tons of people do, even politicians have articles written on papers websites like Time and New York Times, etc.

Anyone have other ideas too?

    I don't even mean writing just for backlinks but also increasing brand awareness. If you just write on your site and your a small business how would a site like that eveb get backlinks?

    Also people that write articled for example is a politician like Rand Paul. He may have articles come out in the papers sometimes and that gets his message out and also helps brand him self when people look him up. For a niche business getting the word out can be trickier when factoring in budget and everything.

      There's a huge difference between voters wanting the history of a politician & selling tires/rims.

      If I'm buying tires/rims I'm not reading some goofy article about tires, I'm searching for things like size/prices which doesn't require 1,000 words of fluff.

        That makes sense but for some companies, news and informational articles could make sense. A video game company could put out news on the industry or a game they are producing or a company that is in the banking industry could also have reason to put out an article on latest trends and information. A company that makes security products could write about keeping your information safe online, etc.

    Call it content marketing, not article marketing. It's the best way to get the best type of backlinks. What do I mean by the best types of backlinks?

    - backlinks from within relevant content
    - backlinks from relevant sites
    - backlinks from sites with high authority

    Other ideas: Private Blog Network (PBN) posts, press release distribution, tiered linking with web 2.0s, and 301 redirects (if you can find a clean and relevant expired domain).

    Every niche has its influencers. Use a tool like BuzzSumo to find them and then start forging relationships.

      There is a Firefox plugin that will display all links on a page as either do-follow or no-follow.

      Simply install the plugin and then find some links that were created by the site or service you want to know about.

    It's difficult to get quality niche relevant links from authority sites (Well you can if you ready to spend boatload of money). However, if you know how to pickup aged domains PR2-3+ with decent backlinks and DA, you can setup your money site's niche relevant small site on it to get backlinks.

    I would take your top 10 competitors and do a Clique hunter on Majestic SEO.
    This will tell you where they have links coming from.

    If you see sites that are linking to 3-4 of your competitions you know it should be pretty easy to get a link from the sites.
