Crawl Errors notices about deleted pages

Many years ago I created a subdirectory of one of my domains and copied a couple hundred pages of content into the subdirectory for safekeeping while I overhauled the site. The pages that got copied to the subdirectory have been redundant and no longer useful. I began to run low on disc space on my server recently, so I deleted all of the pages from the subdirectory.

Now I'm getting notices in my Google Webmaster Tools and Emails from Bing Webmaster Tools regarding a sharp increase in crawl errors. Is this something I should be concerned about? If so, what do you suggest I do about the issue?

It's nothing to be concerned about, unless the crawl errors are for your money
pages that are supposed to be there.

Somehow, you still have some type of internal linking/settings that the googlebot trys to follow.
It expects those to be there and goes off on a tangent looking for them.

Do some digging and find out why google thinks those pages should still be there,
and tries to crawl them.

Perhaps getting rid of the subdirectory and anything that points to it.

Of course there would be crawl errors because Google is unable to recrawl the pages you deleted. However, that's not enough reason to be worried.

no need to worry about those error page that is no your money page. You may read more info about this 404 error from google webmaster central

You can remove the non-existent URL's manually using G's Webmaster Tools,
unfortunately you can only do it one-at-a-time which is a bit tedious.
Having two Windows open side-by-side with GWT and the URL's in Notepad is prolly the quickest way.

in GWT Go to 'Google Index' > 'Remove URL's' and create a removal request.
